How starting things off with a Washington DC caucus? Jesse and Sharpton would love that. Heck, maybe Cynthia McKinney could be the frontrunner.

You see, if the Democrats were honest about diversity, the DC primary would be the solution. The fact is, they want a state like Illinois or Maryland. They want a state with a closed primary dominated by one or two urban areas.

You see, they hate the retail politicking, flipping flapjacks, talking to small crowds, etc. We usually consider that a vital part of selecting our presidents. If it wouldn't be for the Iowa setup, Howard Dean wouldn't have shouted at a heckler and might have been the nominee.

What they, and specifically, Hillary, want is to be able to buy a primary. She only shows up to specific, scheduled events with fans, while flooding the airwaves with ads. The other candidates will have no money to spend and can't get access to the party machine that will drive the vote.

The DC primary would be perfect for the Dems on all counts and they won't dare go for it. If a candidate who is not Hillary is smart, they will insist that the DC primary be one of them.
