When I read that Frist, Romney, and McCain are anywhere near the top of the list of hopefuls, I get a knot in my stomach that resembles that morning I woke to see W standing there with Harriet Myers.

Just feel like crawling back into bed and pulling the covers over my head. Wake me when we impeach Clinton Part II.

Coming in second shows Romney put some work into this poll. The question, to me, is why?

If he could bring in his state's electoral votes he might be considered for VP. But he can't. So what does he want, a cabinet position?

I tend to think that the one candidate who seems to be the most electable in the eyes of most Americans is the mayor himself (Rudy). That is by no means an endorsement, just an observation. When I look at the field of possible candidates it's the only conclusion I could come to. Now what do we do. Maybe I'll run for President :)

Lamest pack of offerings sicne Dole won the nomination. The very thought the Frist could WIN a GOP straw poll..even one as unimportant as this is just depressing. If this is the best the GOP can do in 08 then we deserve to lose.

"Republican Senate leader Bill Frist of Tennessee won a straw poll on Saturday of party activists choosing their early favorite in the 2008 White House race."

Sending Bill Frist up as the Republican Presidential candidate after Bush is tantamount to sending Al Gore in after Bill Clinton. Why is it that the party in power always send in the weakest man to challenge the out of power party after a popular leader (i.e. George Bush after Ronald Reagan, algore after Clinton, etc.)? It's like they intentionally set their party up for failure. Frist is weak, ineffectual, and a RINO.

None on the short list are getting anywhere near the Oval Office unless G.W.B. invites them over for a photo op before Inauguration Day - 2009.
