Yeah, and it is bad business to finance the construction of Mosques world wide too.

I agree with the UAE official. I think the President was right.

I think that Rep. King turned out to be a useful idiot for the Dems, who never did intellectually grasp the deal, but saw a way to hammer Bush from the right.

You want U.S. ports owned by Americans? Then pass a law and make it illegal for any foreign companies to lease terminals within our ports - which is what P&O was selling, btw, leases to operate terminals. The UAE was not going to "own American ports".

This was, IMO, a ridiculous tempest in a teapot. Democrats must be absolutely jubilant that they got away with spinning this deal in a way that both fractures the Republican party and weakens the President.

Feh.

The actions of our representatives in Washington this past week was disgusting the way they treated one of our most friendliest and useful ally's...the UAE, and it's going to take a lot of hard work on our part to get them to trust the U.S. again, if they ever do.

I still stand firm in my belief that the Democrats had a plan since algore lost the election in 2000. It was to destroy President Bush and the Republican Party by any means necessary, whether it be fair or fowl, and little by little they've chipped away at our unity. In 2004 when kerry also lost, much to their dismay, they saw it necessary to step their plan up into a higher gear, and looking at the shattered condition of the Republican Party today, they're winning. Not only are they dragging some of our representatives in Washington along with them with their mantra "tell a lie often enough and it will eventually be believed", there are many here on Free Republic who have fallen into the trap and have started to believe the lies also.

I've never seen the Republican Party in such disarray as it is today and it's time for everyone to take a step back, take a deep breath and look at whats happening before it's too late and we've handed the WH and control back to the rats on the left on a silver platter. Every greasy lie the left has attempted to put on the Presidents shoulders in time has proven to be exactly that .....a lie. They haven't been able to make one stick.

Our backs are up against the wall and the next few months are going to be a crucial time for us and if it means we have to lower ourselves and play their game of dirty politics we now have no other choice but to play the same game.

Some here think the most important problem is the open borders, others think it's the excessive spending, I agree both problems are humongous but it's my belief that stopping the democrats should be the first thing on the agenda.

Our troops are fighting a war in Iraq but there is also a war to be fought here at home and we must not lose. Don't let the example of the sin against the UAE slip into the shadows, let it be a reminder that we must dig in, unite and fight. Our troops are winning their war, so lets back them up and win ours here at home too.

Wake up Republicans before time runs out and we lose everything the United States has stood for. ' Tear down this Wall', unite and ' Win one for the Gipper'.

It's not mixing politics with business. It's mixing business with trying to save our behinds from getting blown to some Islamic hell or getting videotaped while some masked primitive cuts our heads off with his ginsu knife.
