Duncan backs state ban on military-style weapons (Md)
The Washington Times ^ | 3-13-06 | Metro

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, a Democratic candidate for Maryland governor, testified in Annapolis last week in support of a state ban on military-style weapons. "I lived through what one of these weapons can do during the sniper shootings," Mr. Duncan said, referring to the shooting spree in October 2002 that killed 10 persons and terrorized the Washington area for three weeks. "We don't need these guns on the streets." The bill by Delegate Neil Quinter, Howard County Democrat, would replace the federal assault-weapon ban that expired in September 2004. It would outlaw the sale or possession of 19 specific military-style weapons and all firearms with military characteristics, such as semiautomatic rifles with pistol grips or shotguns with retractable stocks. Similar legislation has died in the last three General Assembly sessions, and lawmakers are skeptical that Maryland's Assault Weapon Ban of 2006 will get out of the House Judiciary Committee. Mr. Duncan told reporters that he did not support further expansion of the state's gun-control laws beyond the proposed ban. Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley, another Democratic gubernatorial hopeful, also supports the bill, but does not support further gun-control measures.

Apparently, the rifle drove itself around and shot people.

John Muhammed could have shot people just as effectively with a .223 caliber bolt action rifle as a Bushmaster AR-15. It's the person who squeezes the trigger that does the killing, not the bullet itself. The bullet is just a means to the ends.

Well, what about the vehicle that those two muslim wannabes drove around in from sniper post to sniper post? Could be called an assault vehicle, couldn't it? We need to ban that type of rig as well. While we are at it, we need to ban whatever type clothing they were wearing while comitting their crimes. Those were assault clothes. We should also ban any military surplus clothing, because wearing pants with cargo pockets would tend to increase homicidal violence. Same with shirts with epaulets, and button down pocket flaps.

Sounds like Duncan doesn't know which end of a rifle the bullet comes out of. I may be mistaken but I don't think there was more than one shot fired at each shooting incident. A single shot rifle would have been just as effective.

Yet these same Dufuses will turn around and hypocritically proclaim they don't want to ban hunting rifles.

There is NO DIFFERENCE whether the sniper used a "military STYLE semi-auto and your run of the mill 3030 with a scope.

Heck he probably would have killed more people from a longer range with a deer rifle.

"I lived through what one of these weapons can do during the sniper shootings," Mr. Duncan said, referring to the shooting spree in October 2002...

The shooters fired one shot at a time. To ban all of the weapons capable of repeating that spree, they would have to ban every single rifle from .22LR on up, including single shot rifles.

The car they used was a retired Police Car.

Maybe we should just crush then when the cops are done with them.

I dont think this character or O'<alley can beat Ehrlich, but you never know. What I do know is I would vote for any alzheimers patient in any nursing home in the world before I would vote for a Montgomery County liberal POS.

In separate legislation, Duncan will propose to ban sports cars in an effort to curtail roadway speeding.

You are so right. Unfortunately, here in occupied country MD law enforcement is an ideology. This fat joker actually thought Ossifer Moose was competent enough to make him the COP.

Note to self. Place that order to 44mag.com this week and pick up some M193 as well.

My standard reaction when the left spouts this nonsense.

Ah yes, Ossifer Moose. He was the police chief of Portland, OR before he left for greener pastures in MA. Portland's not too far from where I live. I don't believe he was beloved here.
