Thanks.

I can accept negative news, but I do not like to dwell on it.

I still favor the positive approach and taking care of business instead of all this hand-wringing.

Where are you seeing that? The only place I see what I THINK you're talking about is the top of page 5, where it reports the results of the "generic congressional ballot," where 55% say they'd vote for the Democrat and 39% say they would vote for the Republican.

If an actual party breakdown is reported in that PDF, I don't see it.

This poll is more garbage from the MSM. I went into the link you provided and verified that it's 55% Dem vs. 39% Republican. These figures don't even begin to approximate the national electorate. Remember that in Nov. 2004 it was 37% Dem vs. 37% Repub.

Surely Gallup must realize this poll is rubbish. Do they really think the American people are this stupid? Why publish something that's so easily proven to nonsense?

You are right. Those numbers refer to the generic Congressional ballot.

Funny they don't post the partisan breakdown. I'd wager it's heavily stacked in favor of the Democrats.

Because CBS, AP, and Gallup all polled 10-11% more dems than Repubs.

I've said many times that the party affiliation, when it comes to self identification, fluctuates. More people self identify as dems and independents, at the expense of the GOP. the polls should reflect this.

I am a lifelong GOPer but self identify as an independent these days, for example. That affiliation shifted from GOP to Independent - that's legit and that's what is happening.

i believe only in one opinion poll and that happens every 4 years for the presidency.

With all due respect I don't agree. I believe Scott Rasmussen's methodology is right on the money, using samples with even numbers of dems and Repubs within a specific geographic region (I forgot the number of independents he uses).

But often there aren't an even number of repubs and dems in a specific geographic region - what then?

You don't think that the White House is taking these numbers seriously?

I guess it's pure coincidence that President Bush is suddenly giving speeches everywhere.

You're telling that in a large geographic region you can't search for equal numbers? How does Scott do it then?
