If I recall, Feingold passed one the author of the McCain-Feingold Bill, which regulates campaign donations, which is a clear violation of the First Amendment.

I agree totally with you, which leads me to ask a question that I am always puzzled about, but have yet to see answered.

I agree that McCain-Feingold is a clear violation of the 1st amendment freedom of speech rights. So if that is so obvious, why hasn't this been challenged in court and I would think that even a liberal-activist SCOTUS would throw McCain-Feingold out like yesterday's trash. Why hasn't that happened yet? It seems like this would have been challenged successfully in court the moment Pres Bush (go figure that one out) broke his 2000 campaign promise and signed this aberration into law.

All I can say is I am baffled. SCOTUS did not throw the law out when it was challenged. Hopefully it will be challenged. You would think the ACLU would go crazy over it. Their silence is deafening.

Last year he and Turban Durbin sprung a political surprise stunt upon the Senate, forcing it to stay in secret session to consider an intelligence item. He didn't clear that then with Majority Leader Frist. Yeah, payback's a b*tch.

President Bush should announce that if the Republicans retain solid control of both Houses of Congress in 2006, he will ask for the resignation of Vice President Cheney after Election Day, but if the Democrats gain control in either House, he will have to retain Vice President Cheney in order to defend against the expected attacks from Congress.

Then the Democrat voter will have to decide. Does he pull the (D) for Congresscritter on the hope that maybe they will be able to pull off a miracle upset and impeach the President, or does he pull the (R) and go for the sure thing and fire Cheney?

My observations over recent years tells me that hate will win out over hope with these voters, and they will vote to fire Cheney, because they want somebody to get the axe, and Cheney's head would look pretty nice mounted on a trophy.

Somewhere I read that Feingold did withdraw it. Then Spector and someone else tried to get him to debate it, but he supposedly refused to return to the floor.

In response to your post #29 to me yesterday...

I don't believe there's any doubt the Dim strategy has been to negatively influence public opinion against the president. That hasn't been only the Dim strategy but that of the MSM as well.

While I agree the administration and Congress both have spent far too much time on defense, it's not an either/or situation. Yes, the GOP should have spent far more capital offensively, however one has to respond to certain negative press at times.

What's really hurt, I believe, is the abysmal reaction to such events as Katrina, the Supreme Court nominations, the ports issue, and possibly most of all, the economy. The administration has not had an effective public relations agenda.

Now we're coming to mid-term elections and everyone is looking over their shoulders. Sheeesh!

Although this could result in a positive effect for conservatives, especially since Frist grew some kajones and called for the debate/vote and Dingy Harry's face turned whiter than a mimes, but I must admit, having Feingold as one of my senators has been a tough cross to carry.

I didn't think he could get any more disingenuous than when he voted against the ban on partial birth abortion but he's managed to do so.

He doesn't have a sincere/honest bone in his body and I believe his ex-WIVES would agree.
