Yes, he was the one that predicted "nuclear winter" from the oil fires set during the first Gulf War. I always wondered how a once bright guy had a mind turned to mush. Now we know.

Yes, he was one of those who did. He also made a list of errors pointing out that science is tentative, and used his prediction of the Kuwaiti oil fires as an example. The same Burke equation he used for the oil fires is being used today to "prove" the dangers of second hand smoke. Sagan always pointed out possible errors in his equations. I don't see any other scientist doing that...Do you?

NASA credits him as the lead scientist in NASA's Mariner, Viking, Voyager and Galileo expeditions to other planets. He twice received the NASA Apollo Achievement Award.

All this while smoking pot!

Sagan ran around, cackling like Chicken Little to anybody and everybody that we were going to have "nuclear winter." If his science was tentative and he had half a brain left, he would have shown more discretion.
