It's been pointed out several times that the good guys spend WAY more time at the range, based on the outcome of most of these kinds of stories.

They watch too much TV, and like the gun grabbers, they think a gun is a magic talisman, just needing to be waved around like a wand to have the desired effect. The woman, OTOH, apparently understands that a gun is only a tool, and one that requires some degree of actual skill, obtained by practice, to use properly.
She certainly seemed to have the skill.

My GF wants a pistol for the house now. I suggested that a shotgun is a much better form of house protection. Just the sound of the shell being cocked scares the bejesus out of ya.
