You could ask the same thing of a Christian. A committed Christian, will always put his allegiance to God first.

True. But the United States Constitution and our society were designed so that there is no conflict between being an American and being a Christian, so placing God first in no way detracts from ones committment to the law and the American way. This simply is not true of Islam.
