ARG: Americans Don't Want Censure
American Research Group ^

Posted on 03/16/2006 10:47:39 AM PST by rebrane

American Research Group performed a poll over the beginning of this week which clearly shows that Americans are not responding to the Democrat campaign to destroy the President, despite the major assist from the media which they have received.

The fact of the matter is, only 46% of American adults support Feingold's censure resolution. And one in four Democrats is opposed to it -- perhaps this sad stunt will finally show them that the Democrat agenda starts with harming America?

The Dems are throwing themselves off a cliff once again. How badly will they be hurt when they hit the ground?

Most Americans feel Bush is doing a poor job. But that's far different from their thinking he's a bad person. They do like him and have a lot of good will for him. The only way the Democrats can blow this mid-term opportunity is by running on what they think is a sentiment the country shares: full unadulterated hate of Bush as a human being who needs to be impeached and removed from office. I really do hope they make this campaign personal rather than one of ideas. They'll have their rears handed to them when its all over in the fall.

46% sounds like a pretty high number. I wouldn't package this one as "great news."

The poll question seems designed to elicit an anti-Bush response from people who have been paying minimal attention to the issue (wiretapping Americans as opposed to wiretapping al-Qaida operatives who happen to be on U.S. soil).

I find it hard to believe that 29% of Republicans favor censure and 18% favor impeachment, or that the support for impeachment among independents is so high. The 'Rats who have been running from Feingold don't seem to think that support for the idea of censure is so widespread.

Did you notice that more Independents were in favor of impeachment than censure? More evidence that 'independent' is what you say you are when you can't remember what either of the parties are called.

This poll is truly amazing...... MORE people are IN FAVOR of censure than against.... 48-43 among voters. And, it's almost 50/50 for Impeachment. You've GOT to be kidding me???

It is time for us to confront the BUSH BASHING that we've all ignored as insignificant. It's getting out of hand. Just today, in 25 minutes, I completely changed the mind of a co-worker who was heading down this insane path.

People have FORGOTTEN what was going on just after 9/11. They have forgotten why we invaded Iraq to begin with. And, most are completely ignorant of the President's inherent authority to authorize surveillance on foreign enemies....

Folks.. if you are, STOP ignoring the loonies just so you can get along. Our President needs our support.

I'm afraid the last election proved to us that there is a large minority of people in this country who either actively want to destroy it, or are simply easily fooled by those that do. But, thank God, it also proved they are an irrelevant minority, and a shrinking one.

I wouldn't either. And that is actually greater than the number who oppose the censure motion (44%). A few more polls like this might encourage the Dims to take a second look at censuring Bush and make the media stop reporting on it like a lost cause. If they start reporting on this like it actually has a shot of passing, you'd see the support for censure (and impeachment) go up.

I don't - I actually think the numbers for censure and impeachment are about 5 points or so higher than the poll says. If I were a democrat I'd be very encouraged by this poll.

Yeah. I hope they're encouraged enough to go off the cliff with it.

Pssst! Have you heard about rope-a-dope?

This only tells me at any given time, we're gonna have a lot of kooks or looneys. It's only getting worst by the day when kooks are not in power...

Being constantly bombarded by propaganda since 3/2003 about how 'wrong' the war was has finally sunk in. The sheeple can only drown it out for so long... the circuits eventually get fried and they get swept up in the frustration from just hearing the WORD... Iraq.

The problem is that the "approval polls" don't distinguish why people don't approve of President Bush. I might say that I disapprove of the job he's doing based on the deficit spending, expanded government, and so forth. That doesn't mean that I'm going to want him censured, doesn't mean that I don't like the invasion of Iraq, and so forth. Try asking people why they disapprove of the job he's doing.
