The Israelis are surrounded by neighbors who want to kill them. They understand that we are a true friend. the Euroweenies who are traditionally our allies are surrounded by whining welfare state socialists. They won't get it (although some, like the plucky Danes, do) until the threat becomes real to them, and often not even then.
The Condi float reminds me a little of 'Chuckie' from the Child's-play horror series. That's picking-nits, though.
