When Hitler came along, it put some of that eugenics stuff on the back burner for a while, because he gave it a bad name with all that Master Race stuff. But by the 1950s it was alive again under different management, as an agenda of the left. Much of this goes back to Darwin, of course.
I think the eugenicists took the fallacies of Marx and Darwin and fused them into pure evil. Obviously after Hitler, they had to "disassociate" themselves from the term, but the agenda remained the same.

It would be more like taking from Malthus what influenced Darwin, ingrafting the "racial science" of the late 1800s, zapping the corpse with a bolt of self-righteousness, and releasing the Frankenstinian freak in the name of compassion.
Today it is called "population control."
