The Talk Shows
Sunday, March 19th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Vice President Dick Cheney.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Jack Reed, D-R.I.; Olympic speed skater Joey Cheek.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sens. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Joseph Biden, D-Del.; Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Chalabi; Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah; former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
1st!
Very good snub at Russert by Cheney, for not holding Gregory to account. Losing to CBS is even worse for Russert that no amount of make-up could make it up.

I see murtha(D-al queda) gets his facetime with Timmy.
well maybe Russert can take a few minutes to interview himself on his subpoena to testify at the Libby trial.
Your idea loses 403-3 in the US House vote and you get to be a star on the Sunday shows. And the Junk Media wonders why it is failing?
Warning: Serious minds only--high volume intellects at work!!!!!
And Dick Durbin the only guest on FNS? I certainly hope Wallace has something else lined up.
***chuckle***
Fat Tim's SO yesterday!
Thanks Alas Babylon, MNJohnnie, rodguy, snugs & good morning to all.
Tony Snow and Rush will have show material for 3 hours worth of sound bites.
Hoorah, all well deserved.
Only one conservative on all the shows?
All in all....it looks as another "Bash Bush all the time"...as not too many watch "Slay the Nation".
Sunday Morning Talk Shows have made themselves so-o-o yesterday they may as well do them on Saturday morning along with the Cartoon Parade...
Durbin is so leftist and bitter it will be hard for him to control his anti-Americain views.Perhaps more "gulag" type comments.
As for that babbling fool Murtha, any time talking to him will further reveal what a light weight the libs hung their hat on.
At least here's hoping Chris gives him a honest grilling. The problem with these dems is not so much that they'll spout off lies, inuendos and distortions of fact (and we expect that, it's there nature), the real problem is how much the MSM let's them get away with it, because it fits the MSM agenda and their beliefs.
All we ever wanted was a neutral media. Is that too much to require? When Fox News displays "Fair and Balanced" news coverage, all the rest of the MSM and liberals call them right-wing! But then again, to a far left-wing liberal, Ted Kennedy and Russ Feingold are middle-of-the-road moderates. Durbin, too.
Still, I expect Chris to nail him.

that would make a great campaign ad, (for the Republicans that is.)
Why, oh Why!!! FNS has the turbin on - no pubbie reply? That is normally the only show I watch. Since I am an hour later than some on here, I will watch for and read their comments on whether it is a waste of time.
Thanks AB. Looks like a good day to read, not watch.
Atleast FNS promoters show some humor in promoting - "exclusive" with Dick Durbin.
Good morning, AB and all, thanks for the thread. So too for the link to the preview. I looked but missed it yesterday. Rats.
Good morning everyone!
FNC just said that discussion will be Iraq 3 years later w a leading General in Iraq and a critic of Iraq, Dick Turban Durban. Chris has been decent lately on questioning Dims (certainly much better than Timmy), so maybe there's a little hope.
Cobra II: The Inside Story of the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq

Dennis B. Ross , Department of State
Oh it just gets better and better. Why not a member of the ACT up? Be about the only way you could get a more unblanced, pro "US should of left Saddam in power" panel.
That 's interesting. Saw some articles mention that his constituents have mixed feelings on his anti-war stance.
I see Luger is the ONLY Republican on today.
Thats twice I'm astounded today.
Well if you consider Luger Republican. However Cheney is on CBS.
Morning Seattle Conservative. Thought atleast, FNS will have Stephen Hiess of WS. Looks like they don't care.
One guest on FOX and it's a democrat? I think FOX needs to get a new booker.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.
****
With these two.......... I am reminded of my main man, Thomas Sowell who recently said:
There will never be a shortage of ignorant audacity."
Call me the resident pessimist but I think Chris Wallace will be more in line with his dad in the questioning of Durbin than in line with, say, a Brit Hume type would. Watch and see if he asks tough follow-ups or just lobs another softball right into Dick's wheelhouse.
I hope I am proven wrong with FNC but to have Durbin wihout a rebuttal guest is a bit much for this watcher. I think I'll just read this thread instead.
Hi Morgan!
How's life in the Big D today?
I doubt anyone will bring up the riots in France - saw a little of it on FNC before I left yesterday - quite something. The PM, Monsiuer De Villepin (I'm sure everyone remembers that weasel from the UN before the war began in Iraq)was trying to decide what to do.
If those had been protests against Bush - the Sunday shows would be talking about them non-stop.
From foxnews.com:
Student-Worker Protests in Paris Turn Violent
Sunday, March 19, 2006
PARIS Police loosed water cannons and tear gas on rioting students and activists rampaged through a McDonald's and attacked store fronts in the capital Saturday as demonstrations against a plan to relax job protections spread in a widening arc across France.
The protests, which drew 500,000 people in some 160 cities across the country, were the biggest show yet of escalating anger that is testing the strength of the conservative government before elections next year.
At the close of a march in Paris that drew a crowd of tens of thousands, seven officers and 17 protesters were injured during two melees, at the Place de la Nation in eastern Paris and the Sorbonne University. Police said they arrested 156 people in the French capital.
Four cars were set afire, police said, and a McDonald's restaurant was attacked along with store fronts at the close of the march.
Tensions escalated later Saturday as about 500 youths moved on to the Sorbonne, trying to break through tall metal blockades erected after police stormed the Paris landmark a week ago to dislodge occupying students. The university has become a symbol of the protest.
Police turned water cannons on the protesters at the Sorbonne and were seen throwing youths to the ground, hitting them and dragging them into vans.
>snip
With commerce snarled in some cities, people asked whether Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin would stand firm on implementing the change that he says is needed to encourage hiring. The usually outspoken leader was silent Saturday.

Where are the stories about the latest exposition on WMD?
Darn, I thought that would be covered on every one of these shows.
;-)
I expect Chris to nail Durbin as well. The sound bites alone will be worth hearing, IMHO.
It will be good to have Murtha and Durbin on the record to the point that they are buying into all the false claims against President Bush, and they represent the leftist propaganda.
"Incompetent" seems to be the DNC word du jour. To while away the time and provide some levity and leveling blood pressures, I suggest we count the number of times Durbin/Murtha use it.
I tried and tried to get through to CSPAN this morning, during the bloggers appearance, but to no avail. Rats!
Many hate the bast*rd up in and around Johnstown.
Julian Phillips of F&F started right off with the riots first thing this morning pointing out, get this, that this time it is Frenchmen who are rioting.
Nope, I am afraid young Wallace is rather hit or miss and I suspect today will be a rather large miss.
Hah! Like a drinking game? I'd be drunk by the time I go to church. Not good during Lent!
I didn't see Julian, but did see the riots on FNC - I just don't think most of the Sun Talking Heads will discuss it.
LOL! - Wow, amazing how insightful Julian is - Frenchmen rioting in Paris - - who would've thunk it ;-)
Thanks for sharing and starting my day w a chuckle!
Shouldn't the MTP description be posted with a towel alert. I'm betting Timmy will bring out the sympathy wagon for Murtha.
