who is John Blaschke ? "John Blaschke says all parents need to lock up their guns like Fort Knox."
A concerned parent who thinks guns should be secured. I believe that depends on the situation.

"If you bring a gun into the home, it increases the risk of homicide by three," With a dozen, or so, guns, I'm surprised that anyone is still alive in my neighborhood.
LOL. I can address all sorts of situations with my collection. Now I just buy ammo by the case when it's on sale, and Hoppe's No. 9 by the quart.

"If you bring a gun into the home, it increases the risk of homicide by three," said Becca Knox of the Brady Campaign. "If you decide that's the method of self-defense you're going to choose, you better be prepared to deal with the consequences." How about taking out the gang-bangers and drug dealers out of those statistics? Oops, that would change them too much to have any value for your anti-gun propaganda campaign.

"Simple. Percentage of murders occurring in a dwelling that has a firearm in it - whether illegal or legal - versus murders in a dwelling that has no firearm."
Interesting. So, by that logic I take it that toilets are the real problem. I'm betting 100% of these murder victims had toilets.

More women, from soccer moms to professionals like the ones at the Blue Ridge Arsenal gun range in Chantilly, Va., are packing heat for sport, self-empowerment and protection. Bump for Blue Ridge! That's where I go shooting!

Chrome plated P38 would be a good girly gun.

Well, I guess I'm trigger happy since I like to go to the range and pull the trigger when I'm on target.

Calling 911?

Add the gun, Jaque, and you have 3 reasons the guys will leave you alone!

Notice how they say homicide rather than murder? Homicide is the taking of a human life by a a human. It is homicide if a homeowner kills armed perp in the house, even if it is demonstrably justifiable. Usually the stats they use are accurate but the definitions they use are skewed, such as "children" killed by violence including young gang bangers in their early twenties.

Actually, that is not bad advice.
I don't think I'm taking it the way the "Brady Bunch" intended, but it isn't bad advice.
There are a great number of laws to protect the criminals from their intended target. There is also the emotional experience of taking another's life. Those who haven't been in that position may take it lightly, but it is a bit different when you have been there.
Cordially,

This was a piece on 20/20 last Friday. The Brady bunch has got to be frightened cause those ladies were feeling really "empowered." Looked like they were enjoying the range time and the hunting. If soccer moms take up range shooting, the Rats won't have anyone left to scare.

"If you bring a gun into the home, it increases the risk of homicide by three," said Becca Knox of the Brady Campaign. By God, it better. I don't have guns in my home to *decrease* my chances for justifiable homicide (read "self defense").
