It is extremely difficult to the point of being almost impossible to strip citizenship from someone.....even the worst of criminals.

The gov't won't even accept the renouncing of US citizenship. It just never happens. People do renounce their citizenship, a la Lee Harvey Oswald but the gov't doesn't accept the declaration. That's why he was able to re-enter this country and retain his citizenship.

OK, than my gut reaction is the only answer I would consider.
We have become so inept at being Americans, simple solutions seem most appropriate.
