What is the saturation per square mile?

Given the unique population density of NYC, I'd be hard-pressed to think of a less relevant comback.

Whatever. My post was not meant to be inflamatory as it was taken. Sounds like they need another 37,000 then.

yup , and addition to being social workers[w/guns] and babysitters ,...

... for the city's dysfunctionals ,...

the cops , FDNY and ambulances are costantly responding to petty disturbances,...

... buildings full of "agency clients"

Alot of those square miles have forty or seventy or ninety stories sitting on them too. It adds up.

Empire State Building: 104 floors
Chrysler Building: 77 Floors
Trump Tower: 72 Floors
Citicorp Tower: 59 Floors
MetLife Building: 59 Floors
Conde Nast Tower: 48 Floors
I was suprised to learn this. I find it interesting that (because they are on islands) NYC and Hong Kong are about the only cities on the planet that can actually justify skyscrapers, and both are falling way behind in representation.

I didn't think you were trying to be inflammatory, but if you were trying to defend your point, you picked a lame example.

You make it sound easy. I suggest you try "babysitting" for a couple of shifts. Take your pick, NYPD, EMS, NYFD, etc...

There's still a lot of tall buildings in NYC. Here's a list of 64 NYC buildings taller than forty stories.

Tallest buildings in New York City

And almost half of them have been built in the last twenty years, with more on the drawing board.

And just think: The world's tallest pigeonshit factory is guaranteed to put us back on the map. When people think "tall buildings," they'll immediately think "New York" again, instead of Kuala Lampur or Taipei.

I'll tell you what I found most fascinating: The fact at the NYPD has operatives operating abroad. At first this seemed like a ridiculous waste of money, but if they employ a hundred of these guys for a hundred years and just one of them prevents a terrorist attack I think it will have been worth it.

Sorry. I tend to be overly sensitive about NYC particularly when it comes to NYPD, NYFD, etc.

Apologies.

detectives are taking courses, like one titled "Global Jihad," that covers subjects ranging from the history of Islam to the mind of a suicide bomber.

That's refreshing to hear..that they get it. More so due to the amount of NYPD&FD members that were lost to the savages. No PC in the NYPD&FD. Go Yankees!

Incidently, Bloomberg just announced a big increase in uniformed officers today. The first since Dinkins.

Lame? I was just counting the numbers including all the other agencies like the Port Authority,Feds etc. It would not surprise me if it was 50,000+.

You just won't let it die, will you. There are 1500 PA police officers. As another poster has shown, the NYC police force is not out of line with other large cities. BTW, do you live in NYC?
