he was never a serious candidate for one, he did it because he is a publicity hound...and it would be nice if he werent a carpetbagger...Illinoisians are smarter than New Yorkers

Keyes is a good man. I voted for him in the 2000 Primary for President, and in 2004 for U.S. Senate.
But the truth is, he's a bad candidate. Being candid can be helpful, but in his case he lacks discretion. It doesn't bode well in liberal states like MD and IL.
I love Alan Keyes, and want to see him make a difference. I think he could do well for himself by becoming a grassroots PAC kind of guy.
He deserves our respect for coming in to try and help rebuild the Conservative base here. But he should not run again for a major office.
