This is interesting. The media is reporting that republicans are turning away from Bush yet we see this poll that states the opposite.
NEW YORK, March 23, 2006 Republican voters are split in their support of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain for president in 2008, with Bush supporters preferring Giuliani and Republicans who disapprove of Bush preferring McCain. In a head-to-head presidential primary match-up among Republicans voters, McCain and Giuliani are statistically tied (42% Giuliani, 40% McCain), but Bush supporters back Giuliani 45%-38%, while Republicans who disapprove of Bush prefer McCain 51%-34%.
Although President Bushs approval ratings continue to slide in national polls, his support among Republican voters remains strong, with 80% of Republican voters approving of his job performance, and 84% expressing a strongly or somewhat favorable opinion of him. Evangelicals report an 85% approval rating of Bush, and 89% have a favorable opinion of the president.

Wait... all those 'fair' polls that are 'weighted' properly, and everything show 84% of Americans HATE bushitler... no?
I used my land line to call my cell phone. I was able to determine through my survey that polls were 100% BS. The only ones that matter happen in the early part of November.
Ping...
Although President Bushs approval ratings continue to slide in national polls.......
that highly oversample democrats.
PLEASE DO NOT let it come down to Ruina the Crossdresser or McPain!
I am sick to death of the name McCain.
Given those choices, they only thing I'd have to consider would be which third-party candidate I'd be supporting in the election.
Well .. looking at those numbers .. he still has the base supporting him
That's not what the liberals have been saying
Thanks Howlin....the best thing McCain could do is switch parties and run for president as a Demonkrat.
McCain not only has a "tin ear" regarding his base, his ears appear to be made out of recycled dogfood cans.
Neither on of those people can win; the winner will come from an unexpected corner of the party.
The headline is likely quite correct for lots like me.
A fair group of longtime Republicans will split if either one is run on the ticket.

A couple of weeks ago we were told that Republicans are against Bush and the war. We were to conservative Christians are not going to vote for Republicans ever, ever again...
My fear is a McCain/Fred Thompson ticket.
LOVE Fred Thompson (would vote for him for ANYTHING), but just can't stand McCain.
I've heard this floated about on talk radio.
I find it very ironic....that some of the freepers on the two threads that Jim Robinson has put up about McCain...are MORE angry about President Bush...
YET...according to this article, the ones that are down on Bush would be FANS of McCain....LOL
I gotta tell you, MO---we have got to get to Allen and give him some pointers....so that he can make more of a showing. If not him...then someone else, a governor would be best.
both McBlaine and Rudy would beat Hillery... McBlaine will not get the nomination. I just can't see it.
Allen has a good chance of getting the nomination .. which is why the Dems have a high ranking navy guy running against him in this years senate race
