I don't feel sorry for her having to pay the price for the crime. Even in abusive households you can always grab your kids and get out. And if he was cheating she should have divorced him and ruined him financially. Murder is almost never the answer.
But I pity her having to deal with the fact that she has effectively orphaned her kids. And of course I feel sorry for the children, whose lives were ripped apart 3 days ago.

Especially right now -- they're in the custody of the state of Alabama, while their father is dead, and their mother's been taken off to jail for killing him.... Poor kids. They're going through hell right now.
Maternal chutzpah, huh?

If Preacher Hubby has abused to the point where the wife has no mind of her own, or control over her own life, she CAN'T just leave. I watched my mom -- not allowed to drive, shop, write a check, etc.; he had total control. We kids knew it but had to put on a positive face outside of the parsonage -- exactly like living with an alcoholic. And it's almost impossible to ruin a small-town preacher financially since poverty or near-poverty is the best it will ever get; you're already ruined financially.
