Interesting catch.

The only people who won't be able to follow the trial when this is over will be those who don't want to.

That isn't US Command. Allies are only in Allied Command not US Command.

Aren't they sneaking spies across the Bering Straits disguised as Eskimos?

>>>Clnton holdovers.<<<

Possible, but no proof of that. The leak supposedly came through US Centcom Command in Doha Qatar - which was the command center for the Iraqi Freedom operation.

Could have been one of our guys - or, just as likely, a coalition staffer.

The Chinese and Russians/Neo-Soviets have something big planned against us in the Middle east, and it involves Iran.

Which traitors allowed Putin access so the Kremlin could pass on top secret data to Saddam?

If you haven't caught onto this statistic...it used be very common to have Phillipino or Korean wives amongst military members. When you talk about foreign marriages within the last 10 years...suddenly Russian wives start to show up alot more. I've been in Germany at a military installation for 12 years now. I know of at least 8 military guys with Russian wives. I'll bet by 2010...there are over 3,000 military personnel on active duty with Russian wives.

Yes, you are correct about his Captain in Korea and the way he got tied into a huge game with this gal. The interesting thing about that story...which Stars and Stripes didn't explain...and the court didn't touch....is this money-laundering episode. Even though this gal had an account at the on-base bank...she had him moving money for her. They don't explain this part of the story, and I'm betting its too complicated for them to figure out. But this guy must have been thousands of dollars back to Russia for her and her friends. You have to wonder what this all adds up to.

And the amusing part of the court martial...they never explain what "secret" he told the gal and the charges barely touch on that. Makes you wonder if he made up some secret just to make her happy.

Interestingly I was just reviewing that Stars and Stripes article tonight. This is a BAD case --

1. Unless I'm getting units mixed up, he worked in a unit that runs U-2 spy flights along the DMZ (i.e. taking photographs of North Korea). Classified data he had access to would quite likely have something to do with the readiness of the NORK air defenses that track aircraft near the DMZ or with our aerial intelligence gathering capability.

2. It says she asked him for any "classified" info. It does not indicate that she asked for any particular category of info. If some foreign national told me that they just wanted anything "classified," I would instantly conclude that they were, rather inexpertly, trying to establish a basis on which to blackmail me later.

However, I doubt that's what she did; the military likely does not want to say what sort of information was involved. That's when you KNOW there was extremely crucial information revealed.

For example, there was a case in Germany not terribly diferent from this one (except that the perp didn't have sex with anybody) in the 80s, where the perp walked away without ANY conviction or punishment. Why? Because the prosecution bears the burden of proof; in order to convict him, they would have to present all the information he had divulged, in effect declassifying that information and making in a part of a public record that anybody could demand to see.

That's clearly what happened here; he could've done 10 years or more for letting that info out, but ALL that they went after him for was his affair with the lady entertainer.

It's tragic, but this guy is actually LUCKY that the information he spilled was so vital -- he's only TEN MONTHS in the big house.

"I've read rumors (again, not sure if they're substantiated) that the Russians used to run schools to train female "entertainers" to act as spies. If the Russian intel community lost funding after the breakup of the Soviet Union, I'd imagine lots of these ladies went freelance (just like some of the gentleman that are now thought to be wrapped up in organized crime)."

Possibly, but don't you think those who would have received training at that "school" (if it existed) would be a bit long in the tooth to be strutting their 35+ year old bodies on the stage? Most of the Russian strippers sucked into those contracts are 18 -22 year olds. They were much too young to have been KGB trained. Now, what could happen is someone had some leverage over her or her family, or, being a girl of questionable moral background she was willing to do anything for $$$$$. Why any guy would want to marry a stripper is beyond me.
