Once we address the influx, the existing illegals here, and put in place firm measures to control that...then, and only then would I be open to a sensible guest worker program that operates under the auspice of those other elements. In my letters I talk abput amnesty-like guest worker programs that in essence say...ok, register with us and you can stay a few years. That's, in essence, rewarding them with a legal status now for their illegal acts of getting here.

They should first go home and then come in through the program we establishj once the controls are in place. Otherwise, we will be burdening an already broken system with more influx and more paperwork.

In my estimation, we already have laws on the books that can be used to initiate this in the interim while the other two key elements are put in place (control the borders, find and send home the illegals already here).

I know that is a tall order...but that is the mountain we face and we'd best be about climbing it. I personally believe the Sensenbrenner Bill is the best option to start.

Jeff, your dreams will never happen. Why? Because we are asking many people who have criminal records to register. As soon as they put their fingerprints in the sytem they would be arrested or the other option refused permission to enter the US.

Many of the wetbacks who have been here for uears are still living under the table because of this type of problems.

I can imagine an immigration questionaire asking "How many other people live in your home? What are their names?" That right there is enough to tell the illegals that they are being closely examined. They cannot tolerate that close of an examination without past arrests and current warrants coming to the surface.
