Nobody has done more to ruin the family and community in America than LBJ.

Nobody.

The Republican Party is about to go the way of the Whig Party. If they don't get some cajones, I and many others plan to sit out the next couple of elections. It won't make much difference anyway.

I was making the same statements around the 2004 election cycle time and was virtually crucified by many FReepers.

As were many of us.

I'd like to see the U.S. Constitution Party on the ballot in all 50 states. Cal Thomas wrote a few days ago that we need a strong 3rd party .... or a revolution.

I agree with you, the Republicans have got to stop acting like Democrats, but I still don't want to turn the WH keys over to Hitlery or even a lite version thereof, under any circumstances! Let's just vote the RINO's out of Congress!

Bet what?
Is there a viable third-party candidate?

Perhaps, but the difference is the GOP base sits home when pushed too far. The Democrat's greatest rebellion was Nader, a very small portion, and they were sufficiently shamed into voting for someone they hated (Kerry) in '04.

It's suicidal for the GOP to behave this way, GOP voters are not Dems voters.

Aside from immigration and spending, the GOP had a winning platform in '04. What do they do after the election? Abandon implementing that platform in large measure. So, what? GOP voters are now supposed to elect based on pleasing campaign rhetoric, but not expect deliverance of what was promised?

Sure, the base would understand if 55 Reps vote one way on legislation and Dems block it. They'd vote Reps in, so long as they were convinced the Reps were sweating out every option to make it reality. No one believes they do that. Judges are a case in point. 50 plus Cheney to get rid of the filibuster, would they do it? Nope, some Reps sold out and didn't face any penalty for doing so. Now Saad's withdrawn as estrada eventually withdrew.

The GOP's biggest mistake was thinking it could sell but not intend to deliver. The RINO's share more blame than the others, but the others have a responsibility to discipline McCain and the rest. They haven't done so. If that means Mccain jumps, so be it. He's taking down the party, and so are the other RINO's.

I will bet conservatives will stay at home.

I am going to make money and get the hell out of California.

And if it does, that will only send the GOP back into the wilderness for the next generation or more; if there is even an American after that.

What everyone needs VERY much to realize, is that this country is not now and probably never was, as conservative as those screaming the most, on FR are. Yes, yes, I know all about the "principles" talk, the watering of the tree of liberty, yada, yada, yada...but, when push comes to shove, getting some of what we want, is far better than not only getting NOTHING, but worse than that.

Gee, where I have seen this story before?

Oh yeah, now I remember.

I saw it in 2000, 2002, and 2004.

Oh yes, I agree...absolutely! That fringe party WILL insure that the Dems take back EVERYTHING that they have lost in recent years.

And then, THEN, all of FR's doom&gloomers/cut off your nose to spite your face types WILL be happy as clams, because everyone else here will be just as miserable as they are.

It's a shame we can't bring back tarring and feathering. The GOP has become a target rich environment for their own base.

That's right...having Dems control both Houses and the White House wont make any difference at all.

The SCOTUS will get far more LIBERAL, taxes will get raise ( probably retroactively ), Iraq will become a "quagmire" or worse, nothing will be done to prevent Iran from having nukes, the deficit will get worse, the borders will be even more porous, dear Charlie Rangle will finally be able to reinstitute the draft, FR will get shut down, talk radio will be under the "fairness doctrine", yet again, and well, I could go on and on and ON, but since you really believe that everything will stay just the same, I wont bother. ;^)

You feel free to play your little games and let the Dems run the country. Because that is what we are in for, if conservatives like you, keep playing this little game.

In the meantime, the Republicans in Wisconsin have a marriage amendment bill on the ballot in November. Not only will same sex marriages not be recognized, but civil unions will not be recognized either.

Not only that, we are one of the only a few states who, just two weeks ago, passed a law, stating that illegal immigrants can no longer legally get driver's licenses. Because it is an election year for our democratic governor, he was forced to sign it into law.

See- this is what happens when conservatives come together and work together in order to get good legislation passed.

If conservatives want decent legislation passed, they have to work for it.

Reduce expenditures by keeping the borders tight. We, the taxpayers, fund all the illegals and their entire families here and in other Nations.

That reduces our ability to send our own children to colleges so that they can prepare for better lives.

Legal immigration is more than enough for this country.

Yep, the time is about right for the Republicans to return a healed economy back to the Democrats so they can send it back to the sick bed. Like a modern Hollywood movie, American politics are getting really predictable. Get your stocks in hand and your broker on the phone. Getter' done guys and gals.

Boy I hate being right all the time.
