I guess i will give my two cents on this issue. Social conservative(which I am one) should be thanking their lucky stars for the past 6 years. We have been real fortunate we came into power when we did. I saw something good on the "corner" the other day. Its that social and economic conservatives need each other to get their people elected. Not only that but they need to be unified and still pick up some extra. For a quick history lesson look at the the popular vote in 2000 in the BUSH/Gore race. Then look at the fact that a 120,000 vote swing in Ohio would have given us Kerry as President.

Second. Immigration. I am sorry but the "get tough on illegal immigration" crowd have no one to blame but themselves when in the end no bill gets through. If they had reached a compromise we could have had something meaningful on Border Security and also that addressed the concerns of business and Hispanics. Yes Hispanics. We need to carry a percentage of that vote or we will go the way of the whig party. Often reaching out or listening to the Hispanic community as been labeled as "pandering" Pandering? That attitude is arrogance. The way that govt works is that you build coalitions. IF people view reaching out to different groups and trying to reach a understanding is pandering, then perhaps they need to return to basic a civics class. There are quite a few diverse threads of opinion in the Hispanic community on this issue. I know because I see it on my wife's side of the family. Oh well, the end result will be (1) no bill and (2) major problems with Hispanics many of whom would vote republican. This has been handled very very badly.

***I'd like to see the U.S. Constitution Party on the ballot in all 50 states***

I get 2 to 3 letters from the RNC each month asking for a donation. I regularly donated up to the '04 election. I saw then where this illegal immigration fiasco was headed when Bush announced an amnesty program for illegal aliens. Today the Republicans didn't disappoint me by pandering to themselves and Democrats and not their conservative base.

Not one thin dime will they get from me again. I feel strongly McCain will be the Republican nomination in '08 and I will not support him. I would support Mike Pence but he hasn't a chance.

That said, I will vote for whoever runs on the Constitution Party's platform. I don't like all their planks but I feel it's better than what I have now.

"Social-conservative groups have warned Republicans that their voters feel unappreciated and frustrated with Congress and that the party must get more aggressive on such values issues as marriage, human cloning, religious freedom and abortion if they want a decent turnout from the conservative base in November."

What planet did I wake up on this morning?

I thought the "Republican" party was doing a fair job with the social issues. I'm just as concerned with runaway spending and runaway growth of the federal government.

I smell a spin from the Washington Times.

While I am at it. People should be careful with the term "anchor baby". I keep hearing things like anchor babies aka Americans should be deported and other nonsense. I have a few relatives through marriage that I love dearly, one that just back from Iraq, that could come under that term. The use of that term to classify a whole group of people in such a derogatory way hasn't helped either.

Exactly, I mean look at what we have done with the judicary, Its beyond me how people cant see how close we are to losing the culture battles through inability of appointing people to the bench. We have got to get at least 4 more years after this to give us some sort of breathing room for the future.

When the GOP calls me for $$, I tell them that I will no longer be contributing to them, and I tell them why.

From now on I will only contribute to individual pro-life, conservative candidates.

I love the Constitution Party, but they need to win a gubernatorial, U.S. senate or congresscritter seat, before they can be taken seriously.

Otherwise, they are only a spoiler party.

One thing the Constitution Party should have done, is support Pat Toomey when he ran against Spector. I wish they would put their conservative values BEFORE their party.

I'd be happy if they just quit spending.

Reading all these "Don't support the Republicans" posts I guess I have to agree with some liberals. Apparently 9/11 wasn't that important or else you guys would put supporting our commander in chief above most of these pre 9/11 issues.

I bet a lot of you had the flags out after 9/11 and the yellow "support our troops" stickers on the vehicles. Well supporting our troops means not allowing Democrats to take leadership roles in Congress or the White House.

After all what would Ronald Reagan do? He supported conservatives in primaries but if RINO's did get nominated he didn't cry about sour grapes but actually went and campaigned for the party.

Personally if I didn't work to keep the Republicans in power and the Democrats cause us to retreat from Iraq and Afghanistan then how can I honestly say I supported the troops. Lots of Republicans sat on their hands because of Watergate and the Congressional Democrats betrayed an ally and 55,000 Americans died in Vietnam in vain.

I'm afraid you're right, Ikemeister. Even Tom Coburn, a Senator I respect, has said that it wouldn't make much difference if the GOP lost power.

I am going to make money and get the hell out of California.

You'd be better off trying to accomplish those goals in reverse order.

I did not see the Big Chill but I like Goldblum's acting as well. As far as I know he has also been smart to keep his politics to himself.

>>Nobody has done more to ruin the family and community in America than LBJ.<<

Even most liberals do not boast about Dumbo but they do keep trying the impossible task of finding another Democrat who can outlie him. I swear the man's ears were like Pinochio's nose.

I am right on the edge, if the GOP passed this Ted Kennedy's immigration bill I'm gone. The GOP is nothing but gutless cowards.

What good is fighting overseas if we let our homeland go to pot and be laid claim to by foreginers.
