I love dogs and think this guy is a scumbag. I still think jailtime is excessive. I would vote for a heavy fine and a ban on animal ownership for the rest of his life.

Yeah I think taking him away from his daughter for a year is excessive, that is if he is a good father. I'd give him two weeks with nothing but water.
