Now, whoever thought it might be about sex?

I thought it was just about allocation of resources.

Sure, the Bible is very realistic when it comes to multiple wives.

Jesus Christ preached against polygamy. In the Gospel of St. Matthew he declares "No man can serve two masters . . ."

"'This is making all of America say 'Why is there a law against polygamy?' " said a 55-year-old woman who wanted to be known only as Doris..."

Au contraire, "Doris"! It's making SOME of America look at these folks like monkeys in a zoo.

Get over yourself.

To me, the most bizarre thing is that he honestly believes he's a righteous dude, as far as being religious goes. That, and walking into a different house every day after work! "Let's see, it's Thursday, so I'll go into Margine's house."

If the Lord wanted man to have more than one wife, he would have made him with more than one..............{;>)

no its if the Lord wanted the man to have more than one wife, he would have made him able to have more than one woman pregnant at the same time.

Wait a sec....

never mind.(/s)

Thank you! I consider myself pretty darn conservative.. and I think the show depicts all the difficulties of modern polygamy.. and it also shows the reality of the uglier side.. the old guys who marry young girls and kick the young guys out on the street. Polygamy was practised and condoned in biblical times.. I don't think it's practical in today's society, but neither do I think it is depraved.

Al Swearingen for President! He'd clear up the border issue in a hurry.

I don't think these modernised interpritations are what the ancients had in mind. The modern day society does not need nor support an ancient polygamy lifestyle.

I think HBO is just trying to back door their way into saying homosexual marriage is just another "lifestyle" which we HAVE to accept.

Same here. I can barely handle one wife

I believe strongly that how adults arrange and manage their social and marital relationships is strictly their business.

But one wife is plenty for me too.

C'mon, ya gotta love a "musical" where none of the leads can sing! I mean, "Paint Your Wagon" is to musicals as "No Name City" is to civilization!

I've seen parts of the first few episodes, mostly because it's on after Sopranos. Haven't really gotten into it. HBO has a pretty good lineup with the Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, Rome, Larry David, and Entourage, though. New seasons of The Wire and Entourage later this year.
