A Day in the Life of President Bush - (photos) - 3.28.06

This morning, President Bush announced from the Oval Office at the White House, the resignation of long time friend, and 5 year Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, and the appointment of Josh Bolten, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, to that position. Later, following a Cabinet Meeting, the President made a statement in the Rose Garden, surrounded by Cabinet members, about the progress in the government of Iraq, and the commitment of his administration to work with their counterparts in Iraq in the future.

In news of significance to all conservatives, both Lyn Nofziger (81), Reagan press secretary, and Caspar Weinberger (88), Reagan's Secretary of Defense, died in the past 24 hours. Both men served with distinction and will be missed.

No...thank you. I can tell that you love the president just by the way you make him look....gentle, loving, playful, contemplative. It's captured him better than any other rendering of him that I've seen. I am not an expert, but I know what I like.

Exactly! The emotion jumps out of the picture. Truly inspired.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this about Andy Card, but there was a thread about a year ago, maybe during the inauguration. A group of Freepers were at a party or ball and they had a chance to meet Card.

When he realized they were from FR he leaned in and said something like, "Thank you, guys, for all you do." And he meant that sincerely.

Just passing that along.

Thanks, OWF ... melancholy pictures today with the ever loyal and dedicated Andy Card leaving. He's been such a staunch team member .... and he's very godly and religious man.. I think his wife is a minister. What a tremendous support he must've been to W. May his years be blessed with peace and the joy of new fulfillment.

BTW, the griping poster has been "banned or suspended" .. ;)

Funny how relevant it is FOUR years later.

The left hasn't come up with a new tune for at least 30 years.

You'd think they'd learn..........but fortunately, they haven't, because it doesn't work.

LOL .. just watched your whole smiley play out .. that's funny.

Your drawing is spectacular, jonny ... you paint from the heart. With this kind of talent, don't you think the federal govt. should guarantee you a job, 6 weeks paid vacation and health care for the rest of your life? .. Ooh, sorry .. that was Jacques in France ;)

. . . a commentary so insightful that it merits a second post!!! THANK YOU!

You're welcome, Deb. After he left the presidency and before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, President Reagan tried to get a discussion going about possibly repealing the 22nd Amendment. Many talking heads -- shallow, empty suits that they are -- mockingly said he wanted a third term. But his fundamental premise was and remains sound. I just think the solution is Congressional term limits rather than repealing the 22nd.
