Republicans and Religious Americans Most Sympathetic to Israel
Gallup ^ | March 27, 2006 | Frank Newport and Joseph Carroll

Posted on 03/28/2006 10:27:03 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Americans have shown significantly higher sympathy for the Israelis than the Palestinians in the Middle East conflict for many years. Gallup has asked Americans, "In the Middle East situation, are your sympathies more with the Israelis or more with the Palestinians?" 27 times since 1988. The exact percentages of responses to the question have varied over time, but in all instances the Israelis have generated more sympathy than the Palestinians.

The highest level of sympathy for the Israelis (64%) came in 1991 during the first Persian Gulf War. The lowest was in 1988 and at two points in 1996 and 1997, when just 37% and 38%, respectively, favored the Israelis. There has never a great level of support for the Palestinians, sympathies for whom have ranged only between a low point of 7% in 1991 to 18% in the recent years of 2004 and 2005. The percentage of Americans who can be considered neutral (have no opinion, or say they are sympathetic to both sides or neither side) has ranged widely between 26% and 54%.

The analysis presented here looks at the way in which sympathies in the Middle East vary among selected subgroups of the population today. For the most part, the analysis uses a large sample of over 5,000 respondents created by aggregating five surveys in which the "sympathies" question was asked since February 2002.

(One note: It is reasonable to assume that sympathies for the Israelis would be highest among Jewish Americans, but the small size of the Jewish population in America today -- roughly 2% -- means that there is not a large enough sample in this analysis to document that presumption).

Will you look at that! Now that is surprising, I had no idea that democrat support was so low for Israel and so high for Palestinians.

Democrats have never met a terrorist they didn't like.

I've actually heard St Pancake was a Democrat, but it could just be a rumor.

Seeing that many Democrats are atheists/spiritualists, this comes as no surprise.

Both the atheist/spiritualist bozos and Muslims angrily pursue nihilism/paganism/idolatry, and detest those of us who pursue Judeo-Christian values.

It is nonsensical to believe they will ever accept Judaism or Christianity with open minds because we are essentially what stands in the way of their ideals of brutality/homosexuality/rage/hedonism and other sins.

Subsequently, I see no reason why they would ever accept Judeo-Christian values given that our beliefs insinuate that man is naturally given to evil temptations, and will be held accountable for sin in the afterlife.

To the atheist/Muslim, there is no concept of sin, and therefore they oppose Jews/Christians who acknowledge that there is a difference between good and evil.

And yet it is Jewish Americans who are the democrats biggest financial supporters. Go figure.

I know.

The only logical explanation is that these Jews are the Spielberg type idiots.

You know, the self-hating ones who would send Israel to Satan himself because they detest their fellow Jews?

They are basically as dangerous as the Muslims and atheists.

I've never understood that. Do they think history never repeats itself? Don't they understand what Israel is? It is more than just a piece of dirt in the middle of the desert, it's the touchstone. No matter how far away from God a Jew gets, Israel is the way back.

Funny, isn't it?

Why would Atheists pursue paganism or idolatry? At least be consistant. You can have beliefs, especially beliefs in ethics, without a holy book commanding them.
Subsequently, I see no reason why they would ever accept Judeo-Christian values given that our beliefs insinuate that man is naturally given to evil temptations, and will be held accountable for sin in the afterlife.
Exactly! Many of us atheists are working to achieve justice in this life, and not sitting with our legs back awaiting judgment in the afterlife.

Sin is a concept that is inherently religious. Sin is to go against god so therefore it is of no surprise that atheists do not believe in sin.

Many atheists aid Muslims through organizations such as the DNC, ACLU, Code Pink and CAIR (which exist solely to undermine the authority of the US government, and subsequently endanger the lives of countless Americans).

The sons of Mohammed will always support people like you until the status quo unfortunately places them into power.

When that happens, you will either convert to Islam or DIE.

Either way, you are one in the same with them.

This is why I distance myself from your kind; your people are a serious threat to the very existence of America and Israel.

Justice? What sort of justice and for whom?

especially beliefs in ethics, without a holy book commanding them.

You are a slave to moral relativism because your leaders will always decide for you without guidelines. Don't bother to post back. I will just ignore you.

Considering how small the American Jewish population is, far more Christians support the Democratic party than Jews.

That said, some Jews prefer to take the position that they would rather save the world (Tikkun Olam) than protect the US, Judaism and Israel. It's the mental illness known as leftism.
