LOL, thanks. I didn't bother to take Spanish in high school (opted for Latin and German instead). Didn't realize less than 20 years down the road how important it was going to be to know Spanish. May have to head down to the bookstore to pick up one of those learn a language in 10 days programs

It's not like anybody in the Bush administration cares about securing the borders.

They put the unqualified niece of a crony, Julie Myers, in charge of INS, where she remains completely out of her depth. She got the job because some Bush flunkie was banging her.

They stopped workplace enforcement entirely. No employer of illegals fears the IRS in this administration. The IRS instead helps them cover their crimes.

They're trying right now to push through a bill that couples amnesty for criminal aliens with an end to most types of enforcement. This is Bush's "legacy," a Spanish-speaking America as corrupt as Mexico.

Here are what Mexicans come here to do "that Americans won't do":

http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/vc/murders/vc_murders.htm

Send us your poor huddled masses yearning to kill somebody.

I just received an envelope telling me I was a member of the Republican Senatorial something-or-other. Well, to put it in language that today's GOP understands, NO MAS. Maybe Vicente Fox will slip you something from his Swiss bank account next time you're fellating him, Senator Spector.

So, the Democrats might win. So what? The Republicans started right off by not voting in the full Contract with America, and they've been turning into Democrats ever since. McCain versus Hillary? Who cares? Both are out for personal gain and personal power and bedamned to the country. A pox on both of them.

"...so much for his blow hard comments on "We're a nation of laws".

America was nice while it lasted. I never thought I would see the day when America would be literally given away. By Republican house, congress and president, no less.

You sound like Michael Moore.

You should worry less about what I sound like and much more about what our President sounds like.

Bush will regret it when he's being impeached by the Democratic House next year.

Another silly overuse of the word "treason."

I wouldn't call it treason, but Bush took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and on this issue you can make an argument that he isn't, or won't.

I actually appreciate what he's trying to do - he has called for a civil debate and doesn't want the equivalent of a national flame war, which is of course what both sides have made it into.

I didn't really agree with your original comment but that was a good retort. Can't argue that.

Yep. Pretty much a guarantee, now. I've never seen so many people so pissed off.

It is totally frustrating to find ourselves in such a mess. I need to be convinced my vote really matters. Both sides are crooks and don't give a damn about middle America or the American citizen. Corporate American and our politicians only give a damn about their profit and the bigger the better.

I agree.

We need more stings and should do everything possible to get catch the invaders. Why is this country being given away and to such lowlifes at that?

Bush just doesn't see them as "immigrants". CAFTA/NAFTA combines the economies of Mexico and America into one integrated economy along with Canada. To Bush it doesn't matter if the person lives in Oklahoma or Ontario or Tijuana. Citizens from all these places are simply part of the same integrated mega-economy and integrated mega-country.

I do. maybe you should listen to what HE says instead of what the NY Times says he says. The NC OSHA asked the feds not to use that type of sting. That DOES not mean that we are not rounding up illegals or that GWB had any personal involvement in the NC case.

We are arresting and deporting them in record numbers. Is it enough, hell no.

Calling our dignified CIC a traitor does not sit well with me, at all!!

Question of the day, my friend. Personally, I believe people can write letters and call congress-critters until they are blue in the face and it won't make a bit of difference. Republicans are scrambling like mad to fill the void that Democrats left when they moved left. True Conservatism in politics is dead.

I am serious though. What happens now? The GOP and DNC have decided to go the path of least resistant and not face any of the problems today. What happens now? Do we just bury our heads in the sand and hope we die before the USA ends? Do we just give up and hope that the "Next election cycle" fixes things?

Bush is in Cancun yucking it up today with the V. Fox, while we have massive demonstrations on our streets. The President doesn't see illegal immigration as a problem. The dems only see it as a chance to get back into power. So in short, most here on FR agree with the problem. But the leadership refuses to confront it. What do we do now?
