Why would anyone conclude that religion is a spiritual movement that helps man to create peace.
Islam certainly isn't that type of religion; and here is a second opinion from another very popular religion:
Matt ch 10- [33] But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven. [34] Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. [35] For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. [36] And as a man's enemies shall be they of his own household.
You neatly illustrate the distortion that arises from quoting verses out of context.
You dont understand the teaching is prophetic of the division that comes from following Christ.
The teachings of Jesus in the New Testament make it clear this isnt a literal command to kill but that the sword represents division.
Christian martyrdom means being killed for your faith (e.g. Stephen), not to fight physically and to kill for your faith. The latter is Muslim martyrdom, a perversion of true martyrdom.
Therefore note Jesus instruction in the garden of Gethsemane to see what Jesus thinks of the sword. Also the teachings on loving your enemies, (Matt 5) and turning the other cheek.
He clearly teaches the sword is not the Christian way. This is obvious when you read Matt chapter 26 ( cf Mohammad and Islam).
