Lou Dobbs Wins Viewers in Opposing Illegal Immigration
NY Times ^ | 3/29/06 | BILL CARTER and JACQUES STEINBERG

Posted on 03/30/2006 7:53:51 AM PST by Dr. Scarpetta

Lou Dobbs, the nation's most prominent opponent of current immigration policy, began his day yesterday on the "Today" show on NBC, debating a Hispanic defender of illegal immigrants. He moved on to "American Morning" on CNN to denounce a bill passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday as "an amnesty program."

On the CNN morning show Dobbs called the Senate bill "an unconscionable act" and "a sellout." He appeared again on CNN's midday "Live From..." program, saying, "I think illegal immigrants are a burden to the taxpayer, unequivocally."

This followed by just a day a confrontation between Mr. Dobbs and a guest on his own program, Janet Murguia, the president of the Hispanic civil rights group National Council of La Raza, during which he lectured her on immigration policy.

Lou Dobbs is one of the few saving graces of that putrid network.

I am beginning to think about Pat Buchanan the way I think about Richard Nixon: What exactly was it he did that was so horrible?

Then you're not familiar with any of his positions on corporate America and American workers. So much for your stereotype. :)

We know Bush's position on corporate America...How could Dobb's be worse???

Why not admit to the fact that liberal or not he hits the nail on the head with this one. I'm not ine of his fans on most things but he looked at the facts on this one and got tit right.

He obviously doesn't practice the 11th commandment, which infuriates the Loyal Bushbots..so they trash him.

His show is supposed to be about economic news.

Instead, Dobbs has turned into a daily diatribe against the Bush administration.

I can get that from Chris Matthews, and not have to look at orange hair.

I'd seriously like to know what Lou Dobbs is saying that is so wrong about Illegal Immigration?

He is a Republican and parted with CNN some years ago because of his conservatism.

I am beginning to think about Pat Buchanan the way I think about Richard Nixon: What exactly was it he did that was so horrible?

You will notice that the people that attack Buchanan so ferociously also do not appear to be pro-sovereign America...

Nothing sane about Dobbs. He blames the entire illegal immigration issue on Bush. Every single aspect is all Bush's fault.

I don't agree with Lou too much on the jobs issue, but he's dead on with immigration and he's the only one who's actually ignoring the PC speech codes and using the word "illegal". He's even challenging hte apologists using the "undocumented" word.

I am beginning to think about Pat Buchanan the way I think about Richard Nixon: What exactly was it he did that was so horrible?

Took $11 million in matching federal dollars in 2000, earned by Ross Perot's showing in 1996, then proceeded to run an invisible campaign.

He also never met a concentration camp guard that he didn't like.
