"Now of all the 50 states, only Wisconsin and Illinois flatly refuse to recognize the right of law-abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms for self-protection against criminal attack."

What a pantsload. Try to carry in NY state.

I'll be applying as soon as it's signed and the procedures are in place to issue the permit.

I had a permit to carry concealed in Colorado and I was dismayed to learn when I moved here that not only would it not be honored (which is what we need to push for next), but I would not be able to get a permit for Nebraska. It's been a long time coming, but thankfully we have a governor who is showing himself to be fairly conservative.

How many states does that make now?

Surely there will be blood in the streets now that this has passed. Hahahaha.

Congratulations Nebraska. You done good.

Forget it. Letterman said, every time the phrase "illegal immagrant" was mentioned in the current debate, he did a shot of tequila.

He is too easy.

Well, of course there's the "may issue" and "shall issue" distinction in many states... but we're winning that battle, too.

In about 1986, only about 15 states mandated that every legit application must be given a CCW license. Now it's about 35.

("May issue" states leave the license approval up to the discretion of the local authoities, and in liberals states, that can be insurmountable.)

Also, IIRC, Alaska has joined Vermont as having no CCW licence requirement at all.

With only two states left to get the statutory possibility of obtaining a license, we can start working on getting all 48 to be "shall issue" or even joining Vermont!!

As you wish - I own hundreds of acres in NY, I do not live there, because I can not bring my guns to my house.

Follow me, here - My house. My Guns. Illegal in NY.

So I live elsewhere.

Who is John Galt?

Or Maryland.

I think they mean "No Issue" as opposed to "May Issue"

Although "May Issue" effectively means "No Issue" anyway.

Maybe the NRA should focus on these states too instead of ignoring them altogether for the sake of a press release.

I think I have a 13th ammendment claim against NY, since I am a VA resident - any lawyers care to take it?

What a pantsload. Try to carry in NY state.

Acording to the NRA:

For New York City

"To obtain a license to carry a concealed handgun the applicant is required to show that proper cause exists for the issuance of the license."

For New York State

"A license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver, not otherwise limited as to place or time of possession, shall be effective throughout the state, except that the license shall not be valid within the city of New York unless a special permit granting validity is issued by the police commissioner of that city.

" An applicant for a license to carry outside the home must be required to show, in addition to the requirement for possession, that proper cause exists for the issuance of a carry license, including, for example, target shooting, hunting, or self-defense."

The sad thing is that I can carry in VA with a non-resident permit, but I can't carry in my own state.

The NRA has pushed "Shall Issue" CCW laws in ALL the states. If you were a member you would know that. If I remember, the NRA tried to get Maryland to dump the dems for the governorship. It didn't work because the voters in Maryland seem to like being peasants.

Yeah, you keep believing that. You didn't have boots on the ground in Maryland.

Just ask members of MCDL.org, or marylandshallissue.org how helpful the NRA has been to us here.

And for the record, I am also NRA.

So please kindly shove that 'peasant' remark up your ignorant wazoo.

The reason that Maryland can't shake the "may issue" tag is because it is a relatively small state with big urban areas. So the more conservative rural areas do not cumulatively outweigh the votes of the paranoid urban areas.
