Reminds me of the forced "confession" of sorts in Gulf I when the captured pilot said on Iraqi TV "..the peaceful..peoples..of uh..Iraq".
Total bullshit.

Give her some time. I think any of us would say anything to get out of that situation. If thats not the case its classic Stockholm syndrome
To: jimbo123
As soon as I heard her say "mujahedeen" on ABC Radio News this afternoon, I suspected either she was a terrorist collaborator or suffering from the Stockholm syndrome.

On FOX this morning, a taped wire comment I think, referred to the three peace workers "released" by the terrorists last week.

Jill Carroll's release has not put FR in a good light today. There's way too much hostility, coupled with lots of uninformed speculation. I expect this from DU or Daily Kos. I expected better of Freepers.
I think that as a captive of terrorists, she's entitled to do what she feels necessary to get and keep rapport with the kidnappers. People shouldn't condemn her if their lives haven't been at risk in a similar fashion.

Oh for goodness sakes.
She was interviewed by her CAPTORS.
You know, those people who chop off heads.

Between this and all the xenophobic hatred and illogic about the border issue, I'm beginning to wonder if all the stereotypes about conservatives might just be true.
It's pretty obvious this poor girl has Stockholm Syndrome. She instinctively figured out a way to make her captors like her, by agreeing with their twisted ideas.
It got her released. So there is an upside with the syndrome.

Nice to hear old Jill is supporting the home team.

Of course these are the same guys who murdered her translator.
I suspect she's simply trying to avoid riling them up.

I have just read through the accounts for tomorrows papers that are up on the NYT and WashPost websites.
I would never criticize what she said while still under control of her captors...the video that they made and released via internet.
What was very troubling to me was the video widely broadcast today that was made by the Sunni party when she entered their headquarters immediately after being dropped on the street. Nothing that I read made it entirely clear whether she still felt in jeopardy at that point. I am inclined to think she did. If not, I would judge her statements emphasizing how well she was treated and "not threatened" to be contemptible. She seems to be in good shape and needs to come forward quickly with a full statement either repudiating or standing behind today's remarks.
At some point while she was inside the Sunni party headquarters, the U.S. military was called and sent a convoy to retrieve her. The newspapers do not make clear the exact sequence. It seems plausible that she did her interview there before the Army arrived, perhaps before it was called. My impression is that she may not have been entirely confident that she was safe.
