"The board chose to ban it because it shows extreme homosexuality, nudity and profanity, and we feel that it has no value for the Bahamian public," Chavasse Turnquest-Liriano, liaison officer for the control board, said Wednesday.
The Rainbow Alliance, a gay rights group, called the ban a "farce," and said most Bahamians reject the idea that a "small group of appointed individuals ... can provide the moral compass for the entire country."

Gee, I guess the Rainbow Alliance is the only small group of appointed individuals that's allowed to set the moral compass for an entire country.

Maybe like Iran, the UN will step in and say 'Do it, or else".

I don't understand why the queers are so enraged, the movie will be out on DVD soon anyway. Is it because some sraight moviegoers won't be unexpectedly excposed to their sick lifestyle?

Let me guess which "moral compass" the Rainbow Alliance uses...

As a conservative i'm not in favor of this. I don't like any types of censorship. Is it a twisted movie? I have no doubt so I'll take my dollars elsewhere but i'm not comfortable with a governemnt deciding what people can and cannot see.

Competing thugs. How about letting the market decide?

and we feel that it has no value I agree. :)

Indeed. I thought more people here would be against censorship.

I am, I'm glad that this government is protecting the public from these activists, forcing something on them that they just don't desire. The movie is just plain sick.

A very slipperly slope to get on.
To: SmoothTalker
It's not censorship. Bahamians can get on the internet and order the movie or wait for their local video stores to stock it. But the movie is readily available from many sources. The movie was released last year and it's only coming to the Bahamas now? They can wait for PPV or the DVD.

Would you like it if the US governement could decide what was in theaters? Would you trust Hilary Clinton with that power? I really don't understand big government conservatism. There are a lot of people on here who are big time nannystaters. They are just like Dems in that they want the state to be an active agent for propagating their values. I want the smallest and least intrusive government possible.
To: SmoothTalker
It is when the government uses no moral standards and makes them up as you go. The problem is not protecting the people. The problem is no set guidelines for moral standards. You can ignore using any standards but the government will always control the standards. This is why the godless among us are the most dangerous.
