The state House approved a bill Thursday to expand Arizona's trespassing law to make illegal immigrants' presence in Arizona a crime and to enable local authorities to arrest them.

Under the bill, an illegal immigrant anywhere in Arizona would be guilty of a felony. A law officer arresting someone for investigation of a crime also would be authorized to question the person's immigration status.

I would really love to see the State Senate pass this up to Nappy around June/July. She will really squirm trying to figure out what to do.AWB

" wished the governor of Texas, Rick Perry, had the gonads to stand up to the illegals. He lost my vote next Nov."

You hit it on the head - this is the ONLY reason the Dem Gov. of AZ is pushing this now ... re-election. She's hoping to save her skin.

If this makes it past all obstacles, I'm movin' to Arizona.

Sorry we're full. You'll have to wait until we deport a few more illegals before we will have any room./sarc AWB

"The State ACLU, MALDEF, LULAC, MeChA,.... will all be screaming bloody murder."

That's the idea.

My only concern is that the latter 3 won't just be screaming bloody murder eventually.

Isn't it interesting that the current administration is diligent in protecting us from importation of cut rate lumber from Canada and cut rate steel from abroad, but seem to have a totally different view on the importation of cheap labor.

Making it a felony to be in the U.S, illegally is a good start. Opposition to changes in the law may spark more demonstrations. Violent demonstrations are possible. That is how France works, just ask any Frenchman. Google
