Sen. John McCain gave a big thumbs up last night to demonstrators planning to march across the Brooklyn Bridge today in support of comprehensive immigration reform. "If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon," the Arizona Republican declared at an Irish and American flag-studded town hall meeting in the Bronx sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.

"The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail," he told more than 3,000 cheering supporters - many clad in green-and-white shirts - who packed the St. Barnabas High School auditorium in Wakefield

I am trying to figure out what has gone wrong with our politicians.

Part of it is an abject fear of the liberal media.

Maybe another part is being inside the Washington Bubble.

As citizens, we just seem to have utterly lost control of our country.

Why do I feel that we, as a nation, are being railroaded into something that is not going to be good for our country?

What on earth is going on here?

Most people I know are not against legal immigration, they are against ILLEGAL immigration and the rewarding of it, which is clearly what this bill does.

They talk about ensuring they speak english...is there going to be a bureaucracy to administer to that? That nobody will be granted entry who is going to require government assistance? How are they going to insure that?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven. I think the right approach is to build a high tech wall, and slowly weed out the people who are here illegally by going after employers and restricting who comes in. Then, if we want to grant work visas and/or citizenship to various foreign nationals, we can and should do that.

To me, this is a digusting slap in the face of people who obeyed the law and did things the right way.

Why would McCain, who paid a tough price serving his country, be so anti-American. These people are parading around Mexican flags and celebrating the flaunting of US law. McCain applaudes and encourages this?

Liberals are odd birds whether they are part of the DNC or the RNC.

I'm really starting thing McCain is planning to run as a third party candidate. Honestly. This "hero of the barrios" routine is going to go over like a lead balloon with Republicans.

Viva McCain! Viva El Presidente

I think the republicans in congress have a death wish myself - at least a death wish for their majority. If a bill like this is signed into law, they can forget about me EVER voting for them again.

As another FReeper said in a different thread, the idea of dimocraps getting a majority is scary, but as they also said, "we at least know where they stand."

McStain and all his cohorts make me feel like puking.

McCain is trying to buy votes for his presidential run. And he may be successful as these illegals vote in New York and California and in several other places. I HOPE NOT but one never knows, the only way to make sure is to not vote for him in the primaries.

U.S. Constitution Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

IMHO I do not think that anyone anywhere really knows just what to do about the immigration problem.

Someone is going to have to suffer no matter how it is handled. Better the families of Mexicans already here than us natives.

All in all it is a horrible mess, and has been for a lot of years.
