Well, if "environmental issues" are the only driving question, then yes...humanity should be happy to go back to scattered hunter-gatherer tribes and a life expectancy of about 30 years. I do it in a second.
(The 30 year lifespan is likely propaganda you've been fed by your industrial masters--but even if true, I'd rather that lifestyle)
