SHOW YOUR COLORS: TAKE AN AMERICAN FLAG TO WORK DAY, THURSDAY, APRIL 6
Sunday, April 2, 2006 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/02/2006 7:46:16 PM PDT by kristinn

Take an American Flag to Work Day, Thursday, April 6, 2006.

All patriotic Americans who have been concerned (to put it mildly) about the predominance of flags of foreign nations at the recent pro-illegal alien marches and the desecration of the American flag by supporters of illegal aliens are being asked to participate in a demonstration of patriotism and American sovereignty by taking an American flag with them to work, school or anywhere this Thursday, April 6.

How it works is simple: Proudly carry an American flag with you wherever you are in public. Small parade style flags on sticks would work best for those who commute by bus or subway and those who walk to work. Carry it around with you when you go out for lunch and when you leave work.

Wear red, white and blue patriotic attire. Fly the American flag at your home. Fly an American flag from your car antenna. Tape an American flag in your car window. The goal is to have Old Glory be given the prominence it deserves and to remind everyone--politicians, illegal aliens and their enablers--that the American flag comes first in this country.

Folks have been clamoring for a march to respond to the pro-illegal alien marches. This is a way to do that without having to take time off from work and family responsibilities and still take a stand in public.

John McCain has been touting the pro-illegal alien marches as being effective in influencing polticians in Washington. Now's your chance to exercise your influence.

Please pass this message along to everyone you know and every patriotic blogger you can think of. Contact any patriotic group you belong to. Contact your local media and talk radio shows. We don't have George Soros to bankroll a publicity campaign. We just have us. Stand up for America and Old Glory this Thursday.

You're a Grand Old Flag
by George M. Cohan

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

Got my lapel pin out.

I have a flag at my desk. I doubt anyone sees it in all the clutter.

I shall make a nice screen saver from images from here.

Here is a pic of the entrance to my cubicle. Note that I proudly fly old glory, and I have also prominantly displayed my pen from the Republican National Party with its stars and stripes.

Michelle Malkin's website has a link to this thread at the top this morning. WTG!

I emailed her a link to this thread the day it was posted, but maybe others did too?

Her site looks great, doesn't it? I'm going to continue the call do this every Thursday for the rest of April. It's a small thing, but it's very visible.

Thanks to all for supporting the flag!

Your department is cool with that or are they just scared of you?

Yes on the former and probably on the latter...8>)

I wear the flag right over my combat airborne in-flight missle technician award...LOL

Actually the flag of the United States of America is the only non-department issued device we can put on the uniform. All of the cars have the flag decal too on the rear window which is now standardized on the new cars. I think the admin was frustrated with all of the various decals and stickers we were putting on the older cars. We had 'em all from NRA to Calvin peeing on bin-Laden decals, to name a few. You didn't hear it from me but some of that might have, and I stress might have, been to piss off the lib loonies running this town

Since todays rally has been canceled, have you heard of any Texas Freepers organizing a counter rally this weekend? I hate that these spectacles the world will be watching will be unanswered. I never heard why KLIF dumped it.

I listened to Greg Knapp's show and all he would say was the places that were going to let them hold the event today were getting threats of the pro-illegals groups showing up to cause trouble...and they didn't want it.

He also said that they couldn't suggest counter protesting this weekend because of the threats of retribution..and they don't want anyone to get hurt...

It seems the pro-illegal groups are getting the police protection...not the counter protestors...

Every day that I put on my uniform, I have the US FLAG on my right shoulder.

She goes to work with me every day.

Kristinn, I've never met you but I admire you. Its easy to be conservative and its easy to be outraged. It's easiest of all to act blindly, even for a good cause.

But it takes real intelligence and class to choose and seize the moments in way that will get the point across constructively. I remember particularly your handling the situation in Texas and the way you deal with the press.

I live in an apartment building that shines a spotlight on a flag all night long (so it's proper). I also:
--wore my "united we stand" t-shirt that has a flag front and center
--carried a small flag in my shirt pocket
--wore several flag pins
--wore a RWB "USA" hat to work
--gave out "party picks" which were flags.

And talked up the day as well. Someone mentioned that April 19 is Patriot's Day to commemorate "the shot heard round the world". Might be appropriate to do this all over again on that day as well. Thanks for giving us constructive suggestions!

Gave flags to the 3 white guys that cleaned my septic tank. A job that Americans still do. They appreciated the flags and said no illegals work for them.

I also hung a new flag for myself.
