I actually noticed that nowadays there are so many commercials that use at least one black person in them. It seems many companies want to reach out to minorities. Perhaps, fast food companies actually are more 'successful' in their reaching out efforts.
Why not compare BET ads to other Viacom networks like CBS, VH1, Nick, TV Land, MTV, M2, Comedy Central, UPN, and Logo?
Compared to Disney? Apples to oranges. Probably more ads for cologne on BET too.
Is Disney considered "white"? What do young black children watch?
Oh well, so much for minority outreach ... you can't win for losing with these idiots.
Is there ANYTHING bad that happens to blacks that is NOT the product of prejudice?
I cut out television for lent. I finished off the second half of Atlas Shrugged in two days. Amazing what you don't have to worry about seeing when you don't watch television. Seeing fast food ads and crap ads was one of my main motivations for cutting out television. Thank goodness. I almost got sucked in though at the gym this afternoon by watching some of the euphemistically named 'Real World'.
Pull the advertising. Of course, that will create a new complaint.
When I was a child, I watched Fox Kids. Now that I'm young in heart, I watch Nickelodeon. I doubt any black children would be watching In Living Color or The Wayans Brothers though. They'd much rather watch Sponge Bob Square Pants.
As Willie Sutton would say, "because that's where the money is."
the TV at the gym was the worst invention ever made.
There was a time in my life where it would have been great. It DOES make the time go by but it's in a mindless fashion in my case. I rather focus on running. I also try to get the treadmill that's not in front of a show I'd watch.
Righto! It's call "costumer identification". You know, figure out figure out the type of folk your product appeals to most and then pitch to them.
Besides, BET, like every other network, chases after those dollars.
IOW, the stupid half. But congrats. :-)
The ending was lame and the speech tedious for a novel. The first half was the best so I agree hehehe.
i can barely do the treadmill if there is no T.V.
You should see how fast I can go when 24 is on.
I'm curious about 24. I've heard Laura Ingraham talk about the box set. I'll have to check my library.
Makes sense. Since living as a family unit is "a white thing", it makes sense that fewer blacks cook at home and eat out more.
"The ending was lame and the speech tedious for a novel."
No kidding. Rand's protagonists are prone to sudden, unprovoked, chapter-long soliloquies that are so wooden and pompous, you'd think Al Gore had a hand in them.
I raced through John Galt's speech then after I was done with the book, reread it. I had that feeling I get when I've been under the hairdryer too long *LOL*
