On premium cable, "Penn & Teller" (Showtime, 10 p.m.) starts a fourth season by taking on the Boy Scouts of America, charging their anti-gay bias came after the Mormons hijacked the organization in the '70s. Brash humor keeps this lively series from becoming too strident

Okay, what taxes did you pay for this group?

And please don't tell me equal access to public facilities is a form of taxation.

Then start the Atheist Scouts. The Boy Scouts motto is:

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout law
To help other people at all times
To keep myself physically strong,
Mentally awake, and morally straight

Uhhh...I wouldn't say that. I watched it and it was nothing but hateful bull$h!+ and tripe.
Penn Jillette is one pissed off fat boy. What did the Scout's ever do to him? Tell him he couldn't join because he was too fat?

There are plenty of outlets for the "gay is OK" opinion to be blasted into the ears of kids as young as six.

It is purely gay agenda that they attack one of the very few organizations which has not bought into their weirdness.

"Gay is OK" is a fine position for an adult to take. I will make the decisions about what is OK for my boys to hear until they are adults - and I feel very strongly that the gay pedophile agenda is something I would rather they be told is wrong.

Maybe I should tell Penn and Teller what is funny, and what should be on their show.

Make absolutely zero mistake - the gays are after two things - the boys, and total societal acceptance of their desire for the boys. Screw them and their supporters, who now include Penn and Teller.

Frankly - the Boy Scouts' position on Gays should not even be an issue; is it accepted by rational people to put grown men in charge of teenage girls?

Then they can go create their own scouts. Welcome to the new fascism.

By the way - the Scouts are open to gays - just not gay scout leaders. And could you document where it says the Scouts are open to Christians only? That would be news to my pack.

As a resident of LAS VEGAS, having SEEN their shows on several occasions over a period spanning almost two decades, I can certify that Penn & Teller have lost my support years ago when they began attacking Christians.

They've not wronged them. Why does the duo attack them so relentlessly? I'm more than a little tired of the gratuitous attacks. THEY'VE LOST MY FINANCIAL SUPPORT.

SPREAD THE WORD: PENN & TELLER ARE ANTI-CHRISTIAN BIGOTS AND AMORAL NIHILISTS THAT STAND FOR NOTHING OTHER THAN LIBERTINE BEHAVIOR WITHOUT JUDGMENT AND CONSEQUENCES.

They attack Christians because we're the only group they stands in judgment of their behavior, and they feel threatened by that.

If they had guts, they'd go after the Muslims. ;)

Uh, Penn was a Scout. He is crticizing the change the BSA has undergone since the Mormon takeover.

I've seen Penn Jillette. He has an abundance of gut. What he lacks is a spine.

He'll never take on the religion of peace.

The Mormons haven't "taken over" the BSA. They have made it clear that they will pull their youth from the BSA if it succumbs to the gay agenda.

Is that wrong? Does that bother you? Should they not be allowed to do that?

I thought libertarians supported the right of association and dissociation.

Oh, by the way, I used to own some old Boy Scout handbooks and fieldbooks (pre-Seventies), and I honestly don't remember reading anything that would suggest the old BSA was any more libertine about the buttsex than the "new" BSA. Did I miss something?

ALL of them, not just straight christians.

That is one of the problems with critics of the BSA. And it was one of the things that irritated me about this Penn and Teller show.
They don't know what they are talking about. They have never been involved with the BSA at even the most rudimentary level.
If they had, they would know that the BSA encourages a Scout to get involved with his own religious upbringing...whatever it may be.

My son is an Eagle Scout. He is also Jewish. One of the badges he earned towards his Eagle was a religion badge that required quite a lot of hard work from him to get. A phenomenal amount of work.
His Scoutmaster spoke at my son's Bar Mitzvah ceremony and presented him with the Etz Chaim (Tree of Life) Award.
My son's religious education and his Scouting have always been very closely intertwined. This is also true for a number of his contemporaries as well...not all of them Christian.

What about people who don't believe in a higher power of any sort?

Those who join the Scouts and vociferously make their atheistic or agnostic views public to the rest of the pack are frowned upon...not because of their disbeliefs...but because they are disruptive jerks.

I know that if a boy of religious beliefs were to do the same thing at a pack meeting here...he would be spoken to about it. It works both ways.

Doesn't bother me at all. A private organization can do anything it wants. Libertarians, and Penn Jillette, support that right. Penn, and the Scouts who are criticizing the direction the BSA has taken, also have the right to speak out. Should they not be allowed to do that?

Yup.

There's always Penn & Teller reruns.

"They become hack illusionists, apparently. :-)"

I'm actually something of a fan of those "hacks." Not for their stage show, but specifically for their Showtime show. For the record, they also ripped PeTA, specifically pointing out their purchase of a huge meat-locker, for storing animals they killed themselves. They took on Recycling, basically panning it as mostly less efficient than simply throwing things away, except for maybe a few instances (IIRC). They also debunked Global Warming, noting that its believers are largely hiding a main agenda of socialism. They don't spare anyone, much like South Park, another show Freepers either love or hate.

The show has a purpose (a good one I think), but it isn't for everyone. As a matter of fact, I'd advise Freepers who eschew profanity-laden entertainment to avoid this show as well, as they don't hold back at all on the swears. For the record, I haven't seen this specific episode yet.
