To: Recovering Ex-hippie

5 years ago this week i had a blood alcohol level of .34 a day after my last drink spent a week in the Hospital and 90 days in rehab and a year in sober living One does bulid a tolerence to drugs and alcohol

congratulations!

Drug laws don't convince people to deal with their problems, for the majority of people. It's the other coonsequences that lead them to rehab...so lets legalize drugs , tax it and spend the $ on rehabs.

I don't think it's a good idea to generalize from one drug to the next, or from one person to the next. Some drugs in some people have effects which are terrifying and permanent, while other drug in other people can wear off with time.

Actually, your comment makes a good point. I agree with you -- people often DO build up a tolerance to whatever they're taking.

I'm so shocked and so worried about the effects this guy is going through -- hallucinations and paranoia and other effest that may be permanent -- that at first I didn't correctly catch the point you were making.

I've given it up for Lent. I don't drink that much, at least one or two per night, and 4-8 on a party night which was usually 2-3 nights per week. I sometimes miss it at night but in the morning I'm glad I didn't. I remind myself how good I feel and consider continuing the abstinence after Easter. Good luck to you and God bless you.
