The big chill of the censor Americans have been robbed of the single most essential word (BS)

The US Federal Communications Commission just declared that shit and all its variants, including bullshit, are not merely indecent - which is where the law stood after the supreme court washed its seven dirty words out of comic George Carlin's mouth in 1978 - but are now profane if broadcast. That is a profound distinction. Legally, a profane word is "certain of those personally reviling epithets naturally tending to provoke violent resentment or denoting language so grossly offensive to members of the public who actually hear it as to amount to a nuisance". Nuisance, in this case, is not a dog barking but a word the community cannot tolerate. The FCC reserves "that distinction for the most offensive words in the English language".

Southpark did a great episode on this - where networks discovered they were allowed to say s**t and they went so overboard with that they lost all perspective and almost brought about the ruin of humanity.
But BS seems different to me and I'm surprised the government would be adding new regulation on that at this time.

The FCC reserves "that distinction for the most offensive words in the English language". Bullsh*t. If so, why are "democrat", "politician", and "taxation" not censored as well?

I imagine that for many people, "Shit!" was the very last word they spoke.

"Holy crap!!!! xoxox"
I had a roommate who's girlfriend hated the s word. Thought it was terrible. But she went around all the time saying cr*p this and cr*p that. I never could figure out the difference. It was all feces to me. (Oops, is feces a bad word?)

Bad news for FOX. They just had a NASCAR driver light up the airwaves with a live utterance of the vile word.

disliking silly euphemisms, I feel the same way about the usual usages of "frick", "frigg", and the latest--- "freakin'"--

They say "barbarastreisand" on South Park.
I usually say "Bullclinton".
In the Cleveland area, "modell" is used as a synonym as well, after Drew Carey did this on his show.

I'll do my part and make sure I NEVER EVER watch a NASCAR broadcast. You know, just so I don't have to be exposed to the possibility of hearing this word.

and the latest--- "freakin'"-- My first day at navy boot camp I found it almost comical that all the chiefs and 1st classes were screaming "freakin'" this and "freakin'" that. Then I learned that in today's navy, profanity is not considered effective leadership. It can actually be punishable under the UCMJ (someone inform me if they ever hear of such a case).
Sadly, "freakin'" has become part of my vernacular. :-)

What's wrong with bad words?? I look at it this way. I don't like stepping in it. I don't like smelling it. I don't like looking at it....so I don't like it coming into my ears.
