Hello,
I am damn near 100% Irish, and this article is crap. My great-grandparents came here legally, fought discrimination against the Irish and built lives as Americans. They did it without breaking the law. To the jerk that is trying to make this straw-argument, GFY.

I also read that Ct. was unsafe due to roving bands of unemployed Irish?

Hear, Hear....the Irish came here legally, paid their dues, so to speak..and didn't try to make the US a little Ireland. I live in SoCal...what is happening is making me kinda nervous.

Welfare didn't exist back then, but the dole did. And yes, many Irish were "on the dole".
Nope, the Irish didn't want to make bits of America into part of Ireland, but they did and some still DO, fund the Sein Fein (sp? )/IRA...a TERRORIST organization.
They also caused and were the main murdering and ravaging participants of the DRAFT RIOTS...hunting down and beating and lynching blacks and setting an orphanage for black children on fire and killing many of those poor children.

Very true. They completely ignored the fact that
1) these illegal immigrants are showing up in our emerge3ncy rooms and expecting FREE service in one of the most expensive treatment areas in the hospital
2) that we have all these social systems in place that they take advantage of (but I bet they still speak of the New Deal as if it was the single greatest accomplishment in US history).
3) the Irish spoke English
4) the Irish assimilated
5) etc...
