ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt can't seem to outrun controversy.
The freshman congresswoman is facing a complaint about the truthfulness of her education and her endorsements.
The Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes, or COAST, has endorsed Schmidt's opponent in the GOP primary, Bob McEwen. The group claims that some of Schmidt's claimed endorsements are bogus, and instead of two bachelor degrees as stated on various biographical material, she has one.
"If it was one incident, I might think there was some merit in letting it go," COAST's Jim Urling said. "But we've got a very troubling, disconcerting pattern of misrepresentations here."

She is being targeted because she had the guts to challenge Murtha.
Exactly! Send her to PA, we will support her over that old geezer.
Isn't Schmidt the woman who read an e-mail from a Marine on the floor of Congress; something to the effect that Marines don't cut and run.
Democrats booed her and her statements were "taken down" or removed from the record and she apologized.
Oh, and I meant to add, that is why the left is going to go after her. Because she has more courage than the rest of the Republicans and they just can't let her continue. They'll intimidate her and threaten her; she'd better watch her back.
If there was a "mistake" on her website then let her explain how and why this occured. And, in fact, what are her earned degrees? The publc has a right to know whether she fabricated academic achievements or not. If anyone lies to "pad" a resume it's grounds for not hiring or dismissal by the law of the land. Let the truth come out -- no one should be afraid of that!
COAST is NOT affiliated with the 'Rats!! They are a group that supports Bob (check-kiter) McEwen and actually urged Republicans and independents to stay home in the special election last year. As a result, we nearly lost the seat to the 'Rats.
Her second degree was an error on her site a year ago that was since corrected. COAST is using 'Rat tactics to oppose Schmidt. They would rather lose the seat to the 'Rats than see Jean win it again.
The charge was filed by a local anti-tax group. They have no love for Murtha. Nor do they have any love for a politician who voted for Bob Taft's wonderful tax increases.
Let's talk about Bob Taft's tax hikes. Who here supported them? Tell me all about the great things they've done for Ohio's awesome economy. Jean Schmidt supported Bob Taft's tax increases. If you believe we need Bob Taft's policies in Washington, then you should definitely vote for Jean Schmidt.
If Schmidt had all this courage, where was she when we needed her to vote against the Bob Taft tax hikes? 16 House Republicans voted against them. Mean Jean voted for all of them. Schmidt let us down big time when she was most needed.
