That was my first guess, until I looked more closely and realized this thread was from 2006. Maybe Dan Simmons is a time traveler?

It was not the horrors of his revelations about my grandchildren that had shaken me the most deeply, shaken me to the core of my core, but rather the the Time Travelers last three words. Three words that any Replayer or time traveler visiting here from a century or more from now would react to first and most emotionally three words I will not share here in this piece nor ever plan to share, at least until everyone on Earth knows them three words that will keep me awake nights for months and years to come. Three words.
This was written in 2006...in 2009 we now KNOW what those three words are!
This story should be required reading for every one!

We now know what those three words are:
That America would elect a Muslim eight years after 9/11....

I know this is thread necromancy, but I'd like to bump this up every once in a while to keep this in the Freepers' eyes. Still, I wonder if those were the "three words" since in 2006, BHO was a "no-name senator." I'm also bumping this to see if anyone else thinks or heard what those three words really are. Although this was fiction, myself, if the Time Traveller came to me, well of course I need proof, but I would suspend disbelief to hear his message and question him without being hostile. In that case, maybe I would find proof. Still if it was in my power and ability, I would have loved to provide the Time Traveller with a few crates of M1 Garands, Lee-Enfields, .38 revolvers and M1911A1's with ammo for his battle.
This story is important to me and a good way to warn us of what is coming if we don't "man up" to reality.

WOW.
It is very strange to read this thread so many years after it was posted. All the guess came no where near until close to the election.
Are there any updates from Dan Simmons?

Well, that’s the point about any three words that the Time Traveler voiced: they would not have significance until later.
Good on ya for bumping the thread;
I enjoy rereading the Time Traveler every so often.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. mmm...mmm...mmm...
It’s an amazing story, isn’t it?
How did you happen to come across it?
I still send it to people all the time.

That's great. I have the link on my home page and I try to bump it once or twice a year. I was reading baack over the comments...I'll have to read the story again when I'm actually awake.
One of the most powerful things I've ever read! Thanks for bumping it again...I'm sure there are many new FReepers that haven't read it yet.

And another bump in remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day.
Yes, we now know what those three words are.
