This is effective to illustrate the dangers in the future, but it does not address the argument that we are having today about how to address it.

The argument is that currently we are trying to usher them into the 21st century by way of Democracy and many think that to be a waste of time.

The counter argument is to kill them all.

I don't think it is anyone but the isolationist's and anti-globalist's, together with the pansy-asses, who advocate retreat and cover policy and nobody is taking them seriously anyway.

But I enjoyed the piece! It reflects the reality of a very sick religion that needs reform.

1)That's very short sighted. In two generations, due to birth rates ALONE, muslims will be the majority in France and approaching the majority in most of Europe.

I have heard that argument before, about the Asians an Blacks when they first came to my country.

What happened the children of the immigrants decided that they were more interested in the trappings of western society rather than settling down and breeding like there parents.

Look at those rioting in France covered in Bling gold chains, more interested in what society can do for them, future soldiers of Islam my butt. In Britain Islamic youth seems to be more interested in fast cars and boom boxes, enjoying there wealth

2)Look at the trends in Islam. Is it trending more fundamentalist or more liberal?

No its always mean fundamentalist, and there lies its own weakness, as the governments become more fundamentalist, they have to rely more and more on repression to keep order, and to survive.

In Pakistan Pakistani business men are starting to question why they cannot get in on the boom India is enjoying.

3)I can say, however, that we are not near ruthless enough in this "war on terror.

As ex military myself most of my military life was spent in COIN ops. North Ireland, Balkans, Africa and Basra

I would be interested to hear your views on what methods we are using that are weak and what methods we should be using and where.

I am happy to correspond privately so we don't discuss it in the public domain

The Time Traveler laughed a final time. “All of your grandsons’ names were on lists. You wrote something . . . will soon write something . . . that will put your name, and all your descendents’ names, on their list. Including your only surviving grandson.”

This is another part of the essay about which I've been thinking. Is the author referring to this very "Message from a Time Traveler" as the piece which the author-in-the-story "will soon write"? In essence, saying, 'It's already too late'???

Don't get snotty with me, my grammar may not be perfect but I have done my duty by my country on more than one occasion and have earned the right to my opinions most of them forged in gritty realism and experience not from the safety of the Internet or library

The present "small part of Islam that is violent" is ruthless enough to carry the fight to anyone that will not buckle under.

Two Points. 1) The small, violent part of Islam is ruthless enough...AND unless we have the stones to kill off every last one of them, they will do what you say. 2) The "majority"..."peaceful" part of Islam is an accomplice to the minority by their silence and lack of standing up to this ruthless generation. Therefor, part of the blame for all of this is on their shoulders for not stopping this before it started.

I personally don't think they are as innocent as they make themselves out to be. I just think they are not as brave as their jihadist brothers...yet. I do believe many are with them in spirit and will join them once the waters are a little less icey.

..and we, most of us, are grateful to you for it. Suffice to say that John Kerrey feels the same way that you do. The nexus between military experience and wisdom is not automatic, I fear; nor are the lessons of history any clearer to those who serve.

Opinions are always good.

"Someone pleases explain to me how they get to take over the world unless we eradicate the Islamic population."

Think about it.

Fear:
Mexicans protest in the American Southwest, politicians give them amnesty, with the help of businesses.
Riots in France, and the politicians cower and mollycoddle those perpetrating the riots.
People loudly protesting trailers for a movie depicting the fateful events of United flight 93, not willing to face a replay of the horror on that day--and politicians and the media helping those people to stick their heads in the sand.
Freeing a country from the grip of the Taliban, only to see it turn around and almost execute a man for converting to Christianity--and then making 'strong words' about said action, without a clear notice to back up those words.
Not calling Muslim perpetrators of horrors against non-Muslims by their real name ( i.e. Muslim ).

As to self-interest?

Turning Washington DC into an armed camp, to protect the skins of the political class, while two political parties decide to fight over scraps of power.
Businesses pushing to keep the borders wide open for cheap labor.
Not taking a hard line against regimes who suppress their people because of a need for cheap oil.
Portraying Islamic killers and invaders over the Southern border in a favorable light, while simultaneously portraying those who take affront as 'backwards', 'racist', 'unenlightened', all because those who have taken affront are Patriotic or do not agree with slave labor.
Using Islam as a way to leverage a way into power in politics ( Sometimes called 'riding the tiger' ).

Do you think, for one moment, those who see the debacle American politicians are performing, all for the sake of gaining a political office, do not interpret said kabuki show as a sign that the US is not serious?
Or that Europe is not cowering in fear ( well, maybe not cowering, but that is the perception )?

That story by the author is very, very powerful--and shines a big bright spotlight on the sad nature of what is going on.

Democracy is a necessary moral stepping stone. When countries are run by dictators, you can blame their actions and inactions on the governments. But if the people freely elect radicals who pursue a policy of convert or die, then you can kill them all with a clear conscience.
