Peace activist Cindy Sheehan spoke to students at an assembly at a San Francisco high school today.
"Almost 1,000'' students attended an optional assembly at Lowell High School this morning, according to event organizer Jake Blanc. "The mood was very respectful,'' Blanc said, as Sheehan talked for roughly 45 minutes about the loss of her son Casey Sheehan in the war in Iraq.
"She talked about her experiences organizing against the war and for the peace movement since her son died,'' Blanc said. "I'm glad the students were respectful of her viewpoints.''
Sheehan made headlines in August, when she camped outside President George Bush's Texas ranch saying she wanted to meet with Bush so he could tell her why her son died. The president did not meet with her.

Not that I am slighting your post, but to me Cindy is as relevent to my views as a bicycle is to a fish. I guess it is important to keep tabs on nuts like her.
Lets see, she says
1. Stay on drugs
2. Have sex in high school
3. Don't pay your taxes
4. Be rump rangers
BUT, DON'T YOU DARE SUPPORT YOUR COUNTRY.
When things aren't going well with grownups, go speak to the young, empty skulls full of mush. They don't vote and they don't pay taxes.
So who is the person who gets to speak from the other side?
No military recruiters are allowed on SF school campuses.
And wasn't ROTC also banned? They're just a drill team, and they were great.
They were either bored or frightened, but either way, it's nice to see some kids know how to behave around the insane.
Seems if they can't have a person speak to the other side, then that they should not speak on this issue at all.
She cares about herself. She insults other moms who have lost their own sons in war.
I am a teacher myself. I wouldn't let Cindy Shehen within 5 miles of my class. Military guys are always welcome however.
Because SF won't allow the other side at all.
Military is banned from all campuses in SF. And the "broke" SFUSD paid for her to speak, I believe.
