DHS Child Sex Sting Official Is A Democrat

DHS Child Sex Sting Official Is A Democrat

Earlier today we listed some of the strong reaction to the arrest of Department of Homeland Security deputy press secretary Brian J. Doyle for attempting to arrange sexual relations with what he believed to be a 14-year-old female. Much of the reaction was critical of the Bush administration for not properly vetting one of their appointees. That assessment is dead wrong.

Brian Doyle is a career civil servant - NOT a political appointee. Government workers aren't "vetted." Doyle, as a DHS employee probably has a secret or top secret government clearance, but in DC that's hardly a unique commodity in DC. Unless there is some prior history of pedophilia or sex crimes, the background searches and investigation wouldn't have alerted anyone to the possibility that he might get into the kind of trouble he's in now. The kind of hindsight analysis suggesting that the White House should have been "vetting" the civil service employees of their agencies, is laughable considering that the Clinton administration who dogged for years over the FBI files scandal (Filegate). It's also probably illegal...

So what do we know about is Brian Doyle? He's a former Time magazine reporter, career civil servant, and a registered Democrat.

I think the point is that the MSM was trumpeting his arrest because they believed he would be perceived by the public somehow as part of the Bush Administration and connected to the Republican "culture of corruption." Of course, a pedophile is a pedophile and I'm glad he was caught regardless.

Of course they wont say a damn thing about this in the lib news media. Not that Bush doesnt have his own problems but linking this perv to republicans doesnt help either.

Republicans would do themselves a favor and use the bullypulpit to explain who this guy is and is associated with dems - in fact I think he represents democrat values pretty well.

In all likelihood, Time Magazine protected him by not reporting fully and accurately to DHS on the cause of his termination of employment.

For all we know, Times protecting him from the DHS inquiry may have been in exchange for leaked information at any time in the future, should the Times request it of him, or should he come across anything that the Times would want.

Or, it is equally likely that the DHS background check was lacking in diligence, which won't come as much of a surprise if that is the case. Companies queried in background checks should be profiled for their "loyalty". The less loyal a company, the more rigorous the background checks of employees leaving such companies for Federal employment. This will work well for people who are being blackballed by their former employers, as the inquiry would uncover such, and it would severely penalize any company which withholds information relevant to a DHS security inquiry regarding an application for employment with a Federal organization.

It should be illegal for a company to not disclose all information regarding a person's employment, when that person has applied for work requiring a security clearance. Isn't part of the security clearance application a waiver for just such an inquiry? If so, then the company in question has no reason to conceal negative information.

Clearly there is no vetting for top secret clearance.

Monica Lewinsky had the same security clearance when she went over to the Pentagon.

This creep was a huge security issue: Originally hired as a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration in 2002, he was detailed to Homeland Security the next year and became deputy press secretary cleared to handle top-secret material in November 2005, a department spokeswoman said.

Some were defending him on the first thread, insinuating that he might have been cleared confidential, and that his communications got spoofed. Who is calling for a top down security review? Nobody.

Incidents like this always bring to mind an old saying on IRC (the old kind of internet chat rooms):
Welcome to IRC. Where men are men, where women are men, and where 14-year-old girls are FBI men.
Amazing how true it still is.
