In the last month, Judy Baar Topinka called her Republican opponents "morons," described Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich as having "little weasel eyes" and stood by as an aide said her campaign would like President Bush to raise money for her "late at night--in an undisclosed location."
For Topinka, the state's three-term treasurer and the Republican candidate for governor, such remarks have been her stock in trade. The accordion-toting politician, who revels in discussions about her unnaturally red hair dye and thrift-shop wardrobe, once mentioned flatulence at her inauguration.

The combine told us that JBT was a proven vote getter and the only one who could beat Blago. But she's an idiot. Even a political neophyte would correct an aide who insulted Bush by saying that he did not want the President to visit but rather to raise money, "late at night--in an undisclosed location". Face it folks, the combine has saddled us with a clunker of a candidate.

JBT is a real class act. She is no different than any of the Democrats in greater Chicago. Unfortunately she claims to be a Republican.

I'm not exactly a Topinka fan. But don't take the Tribune or its reporter, Rick Pearson, seriously. Note he only quotes the usual anonymous Republican sources as criticizing Topinka. With the Libune, odds are Pearson is making the quotes up.

Judy Topinka - doing the Combine's political work that real Republicans won't do.

I'm thinking if Jesse 'The Body' Ventura could pull it off, them it could happen again. What could go wrong? What could possibly go wrong?

Wait, did this woman used to be a comedienne? Who am I thinking of? She used to run around with Emo Phillips, was that his name? Maybe she was married to Emo Phillips?

I don't care about the "anonymous sources". What I care about is her incredibly stupid public statements and those of her aide to George Will. And McKenna's comments show that she is being criticized.
