Belgium to Consider Legalizing Under-18 Euthanasia

BRUSSELS, Belgium, April 7, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The government of Belgium is considering a proposal to legalize euthanasia for children and youth up to age 18.

The Flemish Socialist party, a member of Belgium’s coalition government, has called for an extension to the country’s euthanasia laws to give teenagers under 18 the right to choose assisted suicide, and parents of younger children the right to “choose” it for them.

Euthanasia was legalized in Belgium in 2002. Under the current law, a patient must be over 18, terminally ill and in constant suffering in order to qualify for euthanasia. The country has considered extending the law to include children ever since the present law was first passed.

Last month the Netherlands announced it would allow the legal euthanasia of babies and children under 12 years. Dutch doctors admitted to the unauthorized killing of infants prior to the legislation; at least 15 babies were killed every year, many of them born with non-fatal genetic disorders.

....and parents of younger children the right to “choose” it for them.

It's double standard really - they want teenage girls to the 'right' to abortion without parental consent, or indeed without parental knowledge - yet here parents get the 'right' to kill their own children!!

Under the current law, a patient must be over 18, terminally ill and in constant suffering in order to qualify for euthanasia.

They are simply looking to increase the pool of "Abfallleute" with which to work. Once they figure out that all humans are terminal, and will suffer physical death anyway; the elite will benefit from the organ harvesting and government subsidized torturing (unto death). They learned nothing from recent history.

The Flemish Socialist party = EuroTrash equivalent of the death worshipping US Democrat party.

The muslims won't allow it.

In fact, they will put a stop to all of the EU's trends toward this nonsense when they take over europe.

Given Europe's very low birthrates of it's native population, it won't take too long before dhimmitude ends them anyway.

Don't forget the Belgian king made a deal with Hitler and thereby opened a hole in the line directly causing the Dunkirk evacuation.

The German army was not sure to over-run the continent then and might have bogged down as in WWI.

Evidence #1,999,999 that Europe has learned nothing from its history. Europe is hopeless. Europe is lost in a moral/political fog.

Unfortunately, for us, there are too many Americans who think we should emulate those sophisticates across the water.

Cultural suicide.

They have nothing to really live for that I can see, no cause greater than themselves, no real meaning to their lives.

They have turned their backs on their own history, traditions, and religions.

Just dozing away in the Socialist swamp that they have created, administered by endless faceless bureaucrats from Euroland whose only priority is a senseless anti American mantra.

Yes.

I am reading a book that is making a compelling case that Belgium's colonial rule of Rwanda exacerbated the divisions between the Hutu and Tutsi that finally resulted in the '94 genocide. Apparently Belgium required Hutu and Tutsi to wear ID tags displaying a persons ethnic identity among other methods of divide and conquer. Certainly the Tutsi and Hutu had their problems before the Belgium's colonial rule but the Flemish certainly didn't help if not make things much worse.

My opinion of Belgium drops to new lows on a daily basis.

That's what happens when people choose for socialized medicine. It's not only the young people with a chronic illness but they don't do anything heroic for the elderly either. The insurance companies love this.

The Netherlands have the same laws.
