This is suppose to be a surprise? For those of us that remember the "old days" when the INS would raid a Tyson plant and the associated housing developments (Projects)....and they would sometimes round up over 200 illegals in a single raid.

Now of course Arkansas has a single INS (I think they are called ICE agents now....).

In many of Tyson's plants, the workforce is 60%+ and many nearly completely hispanic, with the VAST majority being illegals.

This goes back to my statement on several threads - fine the heck out of ANY employer who hires illegals (and don't give me the "they had papers" poop.

A fine of between $5K and $10K PER OFFENSE (200 illegals would net some $1 - 2 Million..... That could be used to pay more officers, and cover the expense of housing, then shipping the illegals back where they came from.

But with moneybags Tyson pulling strings, we know it will never happen.

Oh - and for anyone saying that the illegals are doing jobs no-one else will... Tyson actually pays pretty well...

Tyson Foods has all the compassion and interest in illegals that it has in the chickens it plucks and slaughters. Both are a means to an end of profit.

When corporations pay their employees low incomes in exchange for long hours of work and expect the government to provide government housing, Medicaid, food stamps, and the rest for their low wage workers... the government assistance is corporate welfare.

When lazy-*ss people don't work much and expect the government to provide government housing, Medicaid, food stamps, headstart, and the rest for them because they have 4 children and their great-grandparents were... the government assistance is normal welfare.

Our government policy is to increase both groups. We are being led by geniuses!

That is government regulation. We live in a New World Order of open borders, free trade, free commerce. These companies have a constitutional right to make as much money as they want (pursuit of happiness).

Why don't you stop complaining, start your own business, employ illegals, and get rich fast. For G-d's sake, don't employ Americans. They demand health care, a decent wage, and job security. Who the heck do these dumb Americans think we are? Santa Claus? If we were running a charity organization, we would be handing out food. Am I handing out food? NO.

;)

Tyson Seafoods also uses mostly hispanic and many illegal workers in Alaska on their vessels. I don't know how they handle the ID issue for them and flights, but they are only interested in cheap foreign labor. I haven't bought their stuff for years..but watch the fine print on all frozen food seafood and other meat products for their name.
Our rich Senators and some corporations are trying to turn the US into a third world country by driving down wages and eliminating the middle class.

Good heads up. Thanks.

O'Reilly and Dobbs should start a boycott list.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if Tyson were manufacturing "documents" now.

Maybe we should demand that all of Tyson's chickens be exterminated as a bird flu hazard, then they wouldn't need the illegal chifcken pluckers.

Wasn't there a big stink a few years ago about this company involved in smuggling wetbacks in to work at their processing plants?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

"AR/DEM/GAZ April 10..snip

"Arkansas-based Tyson Foods Inc., the world's largest meat processor, and Overstock.com, a seller of excess brand-name merchandise, said employees must get permission for personal time off if they want to attend the demonstrations during working hours.

Tyson said some of its plants will close today because of a combination of factors, including rallies and market conditions, according to company spokesman Gary Michelson".

I'm not buying anything Tyson this entire week, nor am I even visiting the Overstock.com website.

It's time for Americans nationwide to protest with their pocketbooks. Lower sales results in lower earnings and is the quickest way to make a company change it's business practices. Say no mas to Tyson.
